40 CORE ARROW LAKE CPU Incoming? | HUGE Path Tracing Breakthrough

Intel Arrow Lake may just get a 40 CORE version after all, according to the latest leaks. We examine the reports surrounding a 40 Core Arrow Lake CPU, how this lines up with previous reports on the Intel Arrow Lake hardware specs, and touch on the upcoming Arrow Lake vs Zen 5 processor battle. With Ryzen 8000 Zen 5 CPUs rumoured to be a HUGE improvement over Zen 4 in specifications and performance, will Arrow Lake be able to keep Intel's PC gaming CPU crown?

We also have some HUGE path tracing and ray tracing breakthrough from Intel, which could bring these two very demanding technologies to low end GPUs such as Intel Arc Alchemist and future low end GPUs. But just what is happening with path tracing? And is it really possible to bring it and ray tracing to the low end of graphics cards?

40 cores will be great for video and 3d productivity.

Well I hope they do make the ARC (Battlemage) as at least as good as the 4080 and if they got their driver act together I will buy one for sure. If it ends up not being much better than the 40 series which suck by the way I will have to pass. Personally I need a gpu will will play at 1440p with everything turned to the right at at least 100fps yeah a 4090 overall will do it almost for the most part but I'm never buying Nvidia again so it's Intel or AMD one or the other.

With Intel and Nvidia both working on the hardware/software dev. of path/ray tracing while AMD works mostly on hardware, as a result of what others are doing, it's AMD that's going to end up getting beat down.

And this is the problem AMD has in general. All hardware, the software tends to be a reaction to what the competition has already done, but the reason why Nvidia is winning the AI war is NOT because of the hardware, it's because they have complete solutions they offer their consumers.

If AMD doesn't get HEAVY into the software development and this includes being able to put out a new GPU where the drivers WORK at launch, they don't have many years left as a GPU maker.

So what you called HUGE pathtracing breakthrough was only a speedup of 3-7%?
Maybe stop with the fake clickbate titles.

LOL.. 32 or 16 FAKE cores. E cores are garbage anyway.

Ever since Intel's Photorealism Enhancement demo with Grand Theft Auto, I knew neural networks would eventually replace traditional raytracing and materials.

In the next years, software Ray tracing will be the key in next gen games.

I hope that intel makes 8+32 48 thread as Amd is making 8C with 3d + 16Dense which is 48 threads.

never thought i would cheer for intel...

I'm not loyal to any one company, but I fully support any company that keeps their software open.

It is almost certain that you don't speak a single foreign language. In English public schools do they even attempt to teach Anglos any foreign languages?

If "Intel 4" would have developed at the pace Intel wanted, Meteor Lake would be coming out to desktop for 14th gen like it is for laptop, and AMD would have had to do more for Zen 5 than what's rumored, or they would need to get to Zen 6 faster.

Now, for the next bit, this means top end, not what a typical person needs so people who want to come along and attack, keep that in mind.

AMD SHOULD have had to move to their form of big-little for Zen 5 for desktop and put out 8-4 chiplets (where AMD's efficient or small core is SMT) and that would put them at 48 threads at the top end. That's about the best it can get with dual channel memory as long as they get their DDR5 speeds up to say 8000 MT/s it's good enough for desktop. And 8000 MT/s will exist for desktop when Zen 5 is out for a little while, and exist at a decent price point. It already exists.

Right now though AMD doesn't excite me, Intel does and I've been buying AMD for a couple decades now. I think what they'll get out of Arrow Lake will be much more than what AMD gets when adding in AI, accelerators, because I think Intel understands it has to have a real affect on software people use all the time and results are measurable. I also think they can make a better interconnect, and I think they'll push memory speeds faster than AMD and right now AMD is still stuck with 8GB/s for the CPU-chipset link while Intel is already at 16GB/s and AMD is stuck having to use 2 X670 chipsets to give X670E conductivity and Intel can manage it with just one which is probably part of the reason Intel MBs can cost less vs. X670 or X670E.

Intel missed a chance to put a LOT of pressure on AMD by not being able to get Meteor Lake out to desktop. As it is Intel 12th and 13th gen are selling a lot better than Zen 4 (Zen 3 beats everything because of the low cost). If Intel would have had Meteor Lake, AMD would probably have had to rush out Zen 6, because I don't think Zen 5 would have competed well against it even with a near 20% IPC uplift. It's everything else about the architecture that would have made it special.

And now we have to wait for Arrow Lake.

I am hoping for Intel's next gen to really be the proper start they deserved to have had with ARC Alchemists they just happened to have a shoddy driver at the top hopefully whoever took over his place would finally be able to bring leadership capable of steering them in the right direction.

I feel like Battlemage will be a really good Architecture timing the fat off from Alecimist

Arrow Lake is gonna wipe the floor with Zen 5, i'm pretty sure.
