I want to take something similar to this but still bring out the color of the skin, have a clear, crisp picture and have shadows to use as a reference for a pastel painting. Would you change anything.

Another great video. I do have a question; why do you use f/11? Don't get me wrong, the pictures look great. I shoot a Canon r6 mk II and use an 85mm EF 1.8 lens. I never thought of going that small. I would have shot it at f/8 but I'd like to understand what your thinking process is. I appreciate it- Vic

Rembrandt had a large skylight in his studio that helped create his iconic look, and it wasn't just his his self-portraits, it was many of his portraits. This last bit is just my opinion but I feel like the lighting pattern in the thumbnail to this video is loop lighting, not Rembrandt.

I always love watching you work with light, thanks for the education!
