And here’s some more food for thought: Given the sheer number of people who never got into The Clone Wars because of Ahsoka, it really raises the question of how fans could consider this idea (that they falsely attribute to Filoni) as a “genius” writing move. Why would he intentionally drive people away from watching the show, by purposely making the main character hated? That’s not genius, that’s stupid.

Filoni is a habitual liar. You can't ever rely on anything he says because he's known for stealing multiple ideas from the Expanded Universe and has tried passing them off as his own and when he does take a character from the expanded universe he completely butchers their characterizations and dumb them down for a very low-standard-having audience.

Completely agree with everything you pointed out, I think the problem is that Dave doesn't know where to draw the limits with ahsoka, making her always right and as powerful as the plot requires her to be, even inventing time travel to save her from Vader, it's a similar situation with Reva, just because you created a character doesn't mean you have to make them always be better than the rest, that's just bad writing.

Most eu fans hate Dave because he retconned 99% of the old eu and the much better clone wars multimedia project before from 2002 to 2005

What, you're saying that Geetsly's, the same guy who did that infamous "Ki-Adi-Mundi is a sociopath" video made a misinformed video where he obviously didn't pay any attention to the source material and greatly misunderstood a character? You don't say!

Commenting for the algorithm. You've brought up good points. Too many people assume TCW is great and I'm glad to hear the opposing argument for once. As one who writes as a hobby, this video was very informative.

Screwing up bad enough to cost thousands of lives is the sort of thing that should irrevocably change a character. People in real life have committed [redacted] over the same sort of situations. Ahsoka is a psychopath. That she is *never truly* punished for anything is frankly insulting. It's insane. It's completely antithetical to anything that would happen in any military.

Well, I somehow accidentally came across his video. So my eyes almost popped out of my head from his incredible nonsense. No, I understand that Ahsoka fans are not the most intelligent people, but this doesn’t go anywhere. “He deliberately made her unbearable and stupid so that she would infuriate the audience and this was the plan so that they would love her and she would become a good character.” Yes, this is what I understand, multi-move Death Note style. You didn’t even need to refute this thesis, it refutes itself with its mind-blowing stupidity

I can think of an interesting video that explains why Rey doesn't get away with being a Mary Sue while Ahsoka does.

Excellent. I will be discussing this on The Spacing.

My problem is that she never truly grew as a person. She's just the above-everyone author avatar who's Shaak Ti doubled-down on Jedi teachings and treated Maris Brood as her apprentice rather than her companion, Bastila Shan grew from a stodgy Jedi, to a conflicted lover, to a woman fully in love with the man she saved. Mara Jade went from the Emperor's sycophant, to a lost soul, to fully loving the man she was originally meant to kill. What changed with Ahsoka? Nothing much, outside of her being your friendly neighborhood Jedi-who-isn't-a-Jedi. Ahsoka just became less gung-ho and more reserved, but that really doesn't change anything.

If anything, her leaving the Jedi Order after Season 5 was selfish because people like Anakin relied upon her. So if anything, Ahsoka should have sucked it up, gone back to the Temple, rejoined the Jedi Order, and stuck with Anakin. She knows that Anakin has emotional problems, so she should have stayed to be the guardian angel on his side. Or she could have just gone to Padme Amidala to be her security guard, and that would've put Anakin's mind at ease considering that his wife is protected by someone that the both of them trust. Instead, she just runs off to God knows where, which makes no sense.

This was an amazingly written and presented video! Your arguments were very clear and concise, well supported too. I've enjoyed your videos, but this is on another level! Very well done!

Filoni asserts that Lucas knew that Filoni was too inexperienced to understand where exactly to start Ahsoka's character. She was not intended to be bratty or irritable, however Filoni does assert that (at the time of the decision to alter her characterisation from a more serious to fun tone) he thought:
"This ain't gonna go over that well."

This provides sufficient information to counter your point somewhat - Filoni listed two reasons within his response.
With the thought implicating he was aware of the annoyance Ahsoka's spontaneous and impulsive nature would cause.

Hello! I saw your video and decided to make a few comments. To start I want to say that the prequels are objective better than the clone wars and not the other way around, though it is still a good show or well at least better than the Mandalorian.

What lore Star said about Filoni making Ahsoka intentionally into a character hated by the fans is said in a wrong way. What he should have said is that Ahsoka in the begging was similar to Anakin with her “bratty and whiny” characterization so that later her character progresses into a more serious person. That’s called character arc and its dumb saying that Filoni fixed Ahsoka since from the beginning she was ment to have this character arc. Filoni was helped a lot by George Lucas and Lucas knows very well how to do character arcs.

About Filoni not knowing were the character was proceeding we need to put in the factor that George Lucas was heavily involved into the making of the clone wars so it’s very probable he knew Ahsoka’s arc from the beginning while Filoni wasn’t aware of it.

You made many good points in regards of the execution of her character arc and it has many flaws. Again, like I said at the start the prequels are better than the clone wars. The reason why so many times Ahsoka’s arc seems and doesn’t seem to be there is possibly due to the fact that George Lucas knew of the existence of this arc while Filoni didn’t and that’s why the arc is there but it doesn’t have consequences; but that is just an hypothesis.

You can argue that she gets worse as the series goes on

You know, there is a reason why your videos don't have mamy views, if Ahsoka would be so bad character than fandom would not love her like they do
