Should you buy a budget Android tablet in 2023 and is the Oppo Pad Air a worthy choice? This review shows off the familiar specs and features of the Oppo Pad Air, comparing vs rival cheap tablets like the Xiaomi Pad 6, and that more expensive iPad.

For under £200 you can grab a decent budget tab these days, ideal for web browsing, reading magazines, streaming video, editing docs and more. I’d also recommend grabbing an Oppo Pad Air or similar affordable Android if you want to keep your kids entertained, or as a portable screen to carry around the home.

You can even turn budget tablets like the Oppo Pad Air into a compact makeshift laptop using a keyboard dock. They’re small, light and great for smashing out emails or essays wherever you wander.

So what’s your pick of the best budget Android tablet in 2023? Let us know what you’re using below!

FINALLY a reviewer who includes battery size. I can't tell you how many videos I have watched where people ramble about cameras and accessories but give ZERO information about the battery. Thanks for the upload, my guy.

I got the Oppo pad free with the Find X5 Pro last year. It's been good, not really gamed on it but it's worked great for Netflix and YouTube.

I always recommend the Lenovo P11 or Yoga Tab 11. We have the Yoga in the household and it is incredibly versatile with the built-in kickstand/hanger, good speakers, great display, and the pen also works really well. It's take it over the comparative 9th gen any day.
The M8 is a no-go because micro USB but the M9 that replaced it fixed that.

I bought an Amazon Fire Tablet last year for just under 200CAD. It has a 10.1 inch FHD display, 64GB memory, earphone jack, great battery life, and I can plug in a flash drive if I want to access more data. It does have some drawbacks: many of the apps in Google Playstore aren't available and have to be sideloaded, like Chrome, and it's not blazing fast but since I use it exclusively for reading e-books and occasionally watching a movie, it's more than good enough, especially considering the price.

Lenovo P11 Gen2 Pro is fantastic. Look no firther, unfer 300$. I use the latest ipadPro (1K plus) and the Lenovo. I use the iPad for the same things and Lenovo's tablet is really impressive, amoled display, 120 hz uad speakers..it's a joy for movies and you tube. buy buy buy

The Xiaomi Pad 6 is the best budget-ish tablet by far. 144 Hz / 550 nits LCD...like come on! 8GB RAM + 5GB virtual RAM extension. Just got it and I'm blown away.

Absolutely love your vids Chris. The wit and references are just wonderfully British. You're a legend. I don't think I watch any other techtuber more than you. But I'm a little puzzled as to why you opted for this 10" Oppo tablet as the best budget option rather than say the 12" Honor Pad 8, which I have.. It's got the same or better specs and 2 inches bigger screen than this, all for the same money so surely that would have been a better bang for your buck choice.

Regardless, keep up those shenanigans and keep the country amused!

Thanks Chris, I do desire that larger screen for portable entertainment and sometimes a laptop mouse and keypad can be annoying.

The Oppo isn't budget tablet at £240. Budget is £100 or less to me.

Ahhh Seaburn, a place close to my own heart 😂 anyway great review, was a bit mislead by the title tho, thought there would've been more budget devices being looked at 🤔

I've literally been looking at budget tablets for the last week so this was very well timed! Aiming to pick up the Redmi pad but will look more into the Oppo Pad Air.

Hey Mr Spurty... Is it possible to start doing a quick check on the phones/tablets you get to review to see if they can connect to your TV via USB to HDMI cable and such? In other words, which have USB Displayport - 'ALT Mode' capabilities... I have a well aged Nvidia Shield K1 Tablet connected to my TV as a form of media player, and with it's old Android 7 and 2Gb Ram is DEFINITELY showing its age! So, am interested in what phones/tablets have this type of connectivity, and NO it doesn't have to be Moto's Ready for or Samsungs DeX etc, just maybe check/mention which devices you CAN do USB 'ALT Mode'. Would be a handy thing to know for us out here that would like the option to connect our phones to 'The big screen'. Thanks fella! 👍

I like your videos as always entertaining. Is it possible if you include mentioning if the smartphones or tablets support type c display output to monitor via hdmi and screen mirroring? Cause there is no reviewers mentioning about these features.

If you can stretch your budget a bit further for a tablet then importing from china the Xiaomi pad 6 (or even better the pad 6 pro) will give you a tablet that is better in almost everyway for not too much more money
