The last month or so of NAS hardware releases have been a pretty exciting time of late. With some of the biggest names in network-attached storage releasing their the latest flagship solutions for home and SMB markets. However, it would appear that it is not over yet with Asustor throwing their own massively fully-featured 2 and 4 bay solutions into to the 2020 release window. Today we want to talk about the brand new LockerStor 2 and LockerStor 4, two brand new NAS solutions that give you a lot of the key buying features from their biggest rivals and present it in a single solution. These two new NAS drives add to the existing LockerStor 8 and 10 series, providing solutions for prosumers worldwide, as well as serving as a more advanced alternative to the popular Nimbustor series. So let's take a look at these two new LockerStor devices and find out why we should be excited about these solutions in 2020.

After watching a crap load of videos from NASComapres, I finally pulled the trigger for the Lockstore 4bay and 4 12tb drives. Thanks for all the videos.

NVMe is now not only for Cache, but also for storage.

Thank you for your reviews. I'm new to this and the first 10 of your reviews I watched were garbled jargon spews which were entertaining just for that. Understood very little but enjoyed your sound piles. Now that I am a veteran of NAS-talk, despite having just ordered my first NAS, your reviews are less entertaining but much more useful.

I got the Lockerstor 4 AS6604T because your 5 reasons for crushed the 5 reasons against. Reason #5, especially: other NAS on the market within +/- $200 of it don't compete for my high-end personal/small business needs. As Anton Lin mentioned 3 weeks ago, your Reason #1 against isn't true any more, making your Reason #3 for even better: NVMe SSD cache and storage capability.

Thank you again for your NAS reviews.

Found your channel and this particular video on the Asustor AS6604T. I was initially looking at the Asustor AS5304T box. My son(in IT) helped convince me to go 'pro' and upgrade to the AS 6604T box. Both of these are capable NAS boxes, but I thought the HDMI out, the 2 2.5GbE ports, 2 M.2 NVMe slots, plus a display were worth the extra $$. I also decided to upgrade the memory to 8GB. Should help with OS and other system related background processes.

I've selected 4, 4TB hard drives (WD4003FFBX). Being the 'Pro' variant of the WD Red lineup, it had the specs I wanted.

+ 7200 RPM
+ CMR
+ 256 MB Cache
+ and 5yr Warranty
+ Reputation

I've a couple 2-bay NAS over the years, but felt it was time to upgrade and go with a 4-bay unit with dual faster ethernet ports. I've always used WD drives and never had one fail. Now all I have to do is wait for Amazon to deliver it. It's already a day over due! So much for Prime. :)

NAS stands for Network Attached Storage - I would buy a NAS to store data. I blow off the apps issue....

The metal chasis is definitely a plus, but its not really as practical and convenient as Synology if you are looking from the functionality. I personally prefer Synology UI and the apps that come with it, instead of using third parties in Asustor. Just my 2 cent.

What is the remote access / cloud access like for this NAS? My wife and I run a small company with a number of remote staff, we need a secure remote access NAS, this sounds like a great unit, but no indication on the remote access?

If I heard you correctly, at 5:57, you said that the TS453D has an LCD panel. I see the blinking LED lights but no panel.

2.5 GB LAN, I will take this over any 1 GB NAS out there regardless the brand.

Thanks for the video but, I one hand you are praising the hardware on the other hand software ( killer apps as you call it) makes only 1 of the reasons not to buy. I think it is a misleading ( unintentionally). I have bought Lockerstor 4 Gen 2 recently after having Synology DS412+ for 10 years and I am very disappointed, mainly (99%) about software . Everything that Synology DSM does, Asustor ADM does it 10 times worse and many times does not do it at all, Synchronising very very bad, No Drive app, big disappointment, you can not print files from AiData app, upload most of the time does not work. No Apps /support for MacOS at all. I ended up using My old Synology DS412+ after I upgraded the RAM memory to 4Gb. DO NOT BUY IT. Cheap stew, it does burn your lips.
