This video was boss mode. Thanks for making it. Can confirm this functions as delivered still. My update to 2.6.4 borked insanely and I restored from backup successfully onto a prior version where I work out the bugs w/ my cluster that is preventing 2.6.4 from starting. Thanks Tim.

Thanks for all the helpful tips! Would love to see additional videos focused on interconnected services deployed on Rancher. For example, I have been trying to deploy haugene/transmission-openvpn, mumiehub/sabnzbdvpn, linuxserver/sonarr, & linuxserver/radarr. All good getting the web UIs up and running, but I am struggling with getting sonarr and radarr to be able to connect to transmission and/or sabnzbd. The networking side of things seems a bit confusing.
One thing that I had a ton of trouble with on some of your earlier videos was dealing with DNS issues. Eventually I found that adding ndots=1 to the DNS resolver options seemed to resolve those particular issues, but I don't really know what that is doing...

How would you restore rancher or rke2 using a multi-node cluster?

Hi Techno Tim, the videos are great and have really helped me to set up my homelab!
I have an error across a few rancher pods (minecraft and plex servers from your previous videos):
"The node was low on resource: ephemeral-storage. Container plex was using 804Ki, which exceeds its request of 0." and "Pod The node had condition: [DiskPressure]."
Any ideas what I'm doing incorrectly?
Thanks.

Our docker login disappeared, no 504 just Rancher Login Can't be reached. I turned off and on the droplet, but normally we click the advanced, to get to the web portal login. Any ideas? Thanks love this video.

Hi Tim. Thanks for these good work. I'm following your videos. Please when you are upgrading Rancher to version 2.5. Please make a video of it. I'm running the exact version also would like to upgrade it to 2.5.x.

Running it at Home, no problem. You have a firewall, you controll and redirect access over the firewall. How would you do that on a public hosted rootserver? I dont want that Rancher can be accessed directyl, so I personaly would put a haproxy in front of it, haproxy takes care of ssl directs everything through it. Would something like that work with rancher ? Would something like that work with docker in general ( for example with a webserver running on docker ) ?

Hi, I have an RKE cluster kubernete running with docker rancher v2.4.15. Is it possible to migrate the rancher config with the RKE cluster to another server?
The current rancher runs on server A and I need to push it to server B

So, after restoring your instance of Rancher into a new machine, without any other Docker containers, would you also be restoring the containers of the services you had before the backup? Could you migrate your home lab from an old server into a new one using this backup/restore process?

Hmm, maybe I can't understand something, but why can't we just mount volume "/var/lib/rancher" when we creating rancher for a first time? Then we can easily backup and restore data just in the "local" directory.

easiest way is to mount the /var/lib/rancher to host, backup the mounted directory to nfs periodically.
