Why do people say they have autism and not they are autistic? As an autistic person, this inconsistent language drives me crazy.

My son was born Premature 3lbs 6oz & they wrote him off as a Intellectual Disability meanwhile since he was 3 yrs old the doctors ignored his Autism & told me I basically was imaginating his disorder… fast forward he’s 17 now & they still haven’t diagnosed him with Autism…. He Speaks very well highly intelligent but they ignore his rocking back & fourth & clapping of the hands… they told me he does that because he doesn’t have anything to do … and I’m like nobody does that in reality…. It’s the Gaslighting for me & the racism I encounter…. They hurry up and diagnose her child with Autism at the same age my son started showing signs! I swear this country is racist as hell & they do it to me because nobody is going to believe me … it’s so much things these people have done to me & they do it because I’m a single blk mother & I was raised in foster care so with that being said I rarely ever come across people who actually help me
