Hey young mate, you were talking about feeding the fry, and how the diatoms /algae gets depleted. I have a solution for you. Set up a ten gallon sized tank with multiple glass dividers, add water, plant fertilizer and hang a grow light over it. As each glass divider becomes covered in algae simply place a glass divider in the fry tank setting the divider on end so the fry can feed off both sides. When they get the algae completely cleaned off of the divider take it out and place it back in the algae tank and put a fresh plate of algae in the fry tank. Keep repeating with algae covered dividers. Free food, and a continuous supply. Cheers!

I just bred my first batch, so easy and fun. I put a cave in a community tank to check if the male was mature enough, 24hrs later he was in there with eggs! Moved him and wrigglers to their own tank to grow out.

I just want to say a huge thank you for sharing your knowledge and experience in fish breeding. Your dedication and passion are truly inspiring! I'm new to breeding myself, and your content has been a fantastic resource to help me get started. I’d really love to connect and maybe even chat with you to learn more, especially from someone as experienced as you. It would mean a lot if you could get back to me—looking forward to hearing from you!

Thanks for the tips! I've gotten my pair to spawn many times but have always had trouble raising the fry. Definitely going to try crushing up the algae wafers when my pair spawns next.

I live in Florida so water temps 76/78°F and have chocolate bristle nose and 1 pair breed like crazy. Seems the male will come out after the cycle n eat as much as possible then he's right back on eggs.

I would have thought the cold water changes and frequent water changes would be an issue for the shrimp but definitely doesn’t seem that way.
Nice video

Hey Nick! Great video. I would like to know why are peppermint bristlenose harder to breed? I have bred common bristlenose but are peppermints a different Species because im looking at getting some to grow up and breed.

Can you do Bettas again? And maybe tell us how you prepare them to breed. The Betta videos and egg scatterers wcmm and danio have been great to watch!
Everyone has had these fish at some point but probably have not bred them.

I find your videos great, informative and very relaxing to watch keep it up!

An idea to get extra food for fry is placing driftwood or rocks in a bucket or container outside in the sun a week or so and letting it grow a lot of algae and microorganisms.
Keeping it sealed is a good idea to prevent some pathogens too.

When you do your water changes, are you siphoning the bottom also or letting it go to mulm?

I just had to deconstruct my BN slam shack because I don't have the space to grow them out. One day hopefully I can actually produce them a bit

When you do a water change do you add any water conditioner or anything into the tank and how often are you vacuuming out the poop ?

Hi Nick, hoping you see this & can offer some advice please! I have a pair of bristlenose in a 110 litre community tank. I have 1 cave. My brisltenose have laid eggs - on the opposite side of the tank from the cave where the male in currently guarding (it's empty). They spawned about a month ago (again not in the cave) and the male kept moving the eggs. I think some hatched but we never saw any fry. My question is, should I move them? And him too, or just the eggs? Either to the cave or a breeding box? I'd appreciate your advice! The eggs are orange. Thanks, Sue
