Step by Step on how to automate unattended forced Directv HR Genie firmware updates using a Raspberry Pi. Great for scheduling the latest CE (BETA) firmware updates so you don't miss them!

Please subscribe, like and comment, I can help you tweak your script if you like. This is created for fun, my issue is I fall asleep often before I am able to get the latest update, so this takes care of that. CE (BETA) is intended for folks who want to test the latest firmware offered by Directv. As always CE (BETA) comes with risk and as with any BETA proceed with caution as usual. DTV does not support this, CE is for testing, if you apply it consider yourself on your own aside from user forum support. With that said never had any issues to date, but CE software can have bugs or issues, so far anything seen has been minor and usually is addressed in the next update. To date the improvements are mostly in the guide and overall speed of the system. Sorry fonts are still the same as the start, just larger logos and maybe better shades of grey etc. Last note is you can always downgrade to non CE at anytime, it's in the stream daily from 3 AM to 7 AM ET, CE is Friday 11 PM ET to 3 AM ET and again on Saturday (Generally as not every week is CE but majority).

The following is a good guide to increase the IR emitter power should you want to have the IR further back. Otherwise it needs to be close up like you see in the video.
