Do people realize that every tax is a just a price increase on themselves? What is wrong with Californians?

They will just pass the tax on to the consumer, vote yes and you will only be taxing yourself.

Richmond citizens, wake up and vote no on this tax. It's a $90 million per year tax that benefits politicians, while you'll be stuck paying more for everything. Many people don't realize that almost everything they use daily comes from refinery products. This isn't about health and the environment. The Richmond refinery is the cleanest of its kind globally, with employees who serve many years until retirement. If health were a concern, no one would work there. Don't be misled by activists who don't even live in Richmond. They brought high school kids to the council meeting, whose speeches showed no understanding of the situation. Chevron has invested over $2 billion in the community since 2018, contributing 25% of the city's revenue. If Chevron leaves, we all lose. It's time to partner and work together, not add more regulations and taxes that we end up paying while politicians build their empires.

This would be bad nation wide. The US has no where near enough refinery capacity.

Although Chevron as a company makes billions in profit, Chevron in Richmond is barely paying the bills.

This refinery will scale back and/or shutdown.

What will the City of Richmond do then?

Its not just the Chevron employees that will be affected but the hundreds and thousands of small businesses and employees that also rely on Chevron.

Maybe the city council should run the numbers if Chevron left how that would affect the cities budget...

lol tax the refiners after taxing at the pump. they will just transfer the tax to consumers. they should repeal the gas tax rather than making these mone grabs.
