A comparison of Ernie Ball Not Even Slinky and Skinny Top Heavy Bottom Strings.

The aim was to keep it short and sweet, showing the audible differences both in clean and distorted versions. Recorded directly into my audio interface/recording PC with a fresh set of strings. No modifications done to the original sound.

I tried to show off each string in each riff, but it was quite a hard feat to fit all of them into a 4 bar riff, so they came out rather bland.
Nonetheless, you can hear the difference between the sets of strings.

Tuning : Drop C

All music composed and recorded by Alex D Stephenson.

Could you give the tabs for those riffs? They are magnificent.

Edit: I just figured them out on guitar. Thanks anyways!

I'm currently using the not even slinky ( in C standard), but i want to try something else because the G string feels sooo weird and sounds like crap too.

My ears began to cringe at 1:08. Then they cried at 1:22... Otherwise, nice playing! I'm not really a metal guy (there are a few exceptions) but I use skinny top heavy bottom.

Is that a 25.5" or 24.75" scale neck? Has a very small effect on tension, but noticable enough for me with certain string sets and tunings.

Overall I think I prefer the skinny top heavy bottom strings. What do you think?

STHB's for every guitar I own. And just recently, cobalt versions for all my Gibsons.

You know I can see that you had the bridge pickup selected for all those demos right?

I want to play in c and C# tuning most of the time, so I bought the heavy bottom. Is it a catastrophy to play in drop B with them?

I play metalcore like bmth and so, which better? And im actually looking for a thick 6th string do you have any recommendations?

I don't understand why 12-56 set has so thick 3-d string?.. It must have circa 14.5 kg tension in standert tuning.

Can you tune the not even slinky to full tune or would it fuck up the neck?

Say I want to play lead guitar in Slipknot songs (Drop A), what strings should I get?

If I put these in a LP to play standard E tuning, would it work fine or would it be too much tension?

My biggest problem I always had with the Not Even Slinkys is the plain .24 G string. It really makes no sense why you would have a plain string that thick. They should re-release the set and make it a wound 24 or just make it a thinner plain like a .19 or. 20. I had this same problem with the Beefy Slinkys as well.
