Stair Riser Installation Tip: Get Your Height Perfect!!!

Riser installation tip. Getting the riser height juuuuusssstttt right is key. I like to bevel my riser 5 degrees to allow for adhesive between the riser and tread, while still allowing the leading edge of the riser to be air tight to the tread. A torpedo level is a must for checking to ensure the riser is going to be in a good position before nailing.

Isn't that how the building trade works. Pass on the mistakes to the finish guys. Rough framing is sometimes, not always, but it's called ROUGH framing for a reason. Get it close enough and let the finish guys make them look good. Nice job Spencer. How's the new van working for you. Super nice set up in that.

I believe that the cuts on the stringers have shrinked like crazy when it comes time for the finish guy. If you throw a square on most of the cuts they’re not even square. Framers surely use a framing square right?or not.

How do you fix squeaky stairs on 3 year old oak treads with poplar risers. Wallboard removed underneath and additional #8 deck screws added (pilot holes drilled) thru risers into treads, additional lags thru stringer into framing but the son - of -a-B keeps squeaking ??? Do you think hot poly glue with additional blocking on inside 90 degree angle ( tread/riser ) would work ? Scratching my head ?

Great channel, your very talented as a finish carpenter. The framing is very bad, the stringers are way over cut and lack a glued and screwed 2x4 on the side of the stringer for added strength

Polyurethane foaming glue best. Sometimes called gorilla glue
