Another way if you are on the PS4 is when you are on the multiplayer menu, push the ps button to go out of the game and leave it running in the background. Go to network - Test internet connection. Once it's done, go back into the game and you can connect. If it doesn't do it the first time, it will the second.

Hmmm how about Xbox it don't work I had to go to skins and the back out to play online

The new way I found I to check the latest skins and back out and it connects
