Putin claims West was preparing to invade Russia in Victory Day speech

Russian President Vladimir Putin has given a Victory Day speech from Moscow’s Red Square, where he framed Russia’s war in Ukraine as necessary due to a threat of invasion from the West.

Mr Putin told his forces they were defending the “motherland” from an “unacceptable threat”.

He also accused the United States of supporting Nazis in Ukraine.

Putin was good for Russia for many years. Most Russians didn't care that he was getting rich from his position because they were living better than any time in their history. But like all politicians, he took himself too seriously instead of what he did. A smart politician would have leased Russia's naval base of Sevastopol in the Crimea and developed a joint partnership in their oil and gas fields. The days of conquering other countries for economic gain are over. As the late great Meyer Lansky said, It's better to make a friend than an enemy. The U.S. is bringing the next World War closer by demanding regime change in Russia. The idiot democrats impeached Pres. Trump on a phony hoax that Russia had interfered in the 2020 election that gave Trump the Presidency. Now they are interfering in Russian domestic affairs because they are still pissed that Trump won. This is what happens when idiots are permitted to take control by illegal means. They are hypocrites saying they want to protect Ukraine's borders yet are allowing millions to come across ours illegally. We deserve the corrupt rulers we have because we are too cowardly to remove them.

The Victory Day parade takes place every year. Russia always has one goal - Victory over fascism.
