Finding things like this is what makes YouTube great.

Back then, movies didn’t end up in your house to watch after a week or less in the theater. When they eventually did, they were insanely expensive. Things like comics, this album, novelization, soundtrack, trading cards, etc. was the only way for us kids to stay engaged and re-experience the thrill of the movie till one of several theatrical rereleases came around. A lot different these days.

This is the greatest thing about YouTube. Finding audio like this that I haven't heard in years and thought I'd never hear again. Thanks for posting.

I had this on cassette when I was a kid. Listened to it outside on my little cassette player while playing with my action figures. Listened to it so often even the neighbors knew it by heart! Good times.

They did a great job splicing this into an hour. We played it over and over as children. It stayed in the car radio.

I think we wore out our copy! Brothers and I listened to ours all the time!

Mister Browne's voice is as distinctive as James Earl Jones's voice

I made my dad go nuts in the 70s with that thing

Still have my original LP. I remember eating chicken and chips that night and my Dad got up after we finished eating and told me to clear the table. When I came back into the living room, my Dad put the LP on and we all sat down to listen. I think this was just a bit before the film had come out in the UK so it was extremely exciting to have a taste of what was to come.

I remember borrowing this from my elementary school library and wearing it out.

Started my appreciation of Radio Drama...

I used to listen to this 8 track in my room to the point that my parents seriously considered soundproofing my walls. Still have the tape, just not a device to play it on. And it's still fun this many years later to remember the parts of the film dialogue that made it onto the tape and which didn't.

There was an animated tv commercial ad for this LP back in '77. It featured 3PO and R2 in the Tatooine desert. R2's dome-head flips up, 3PO drops a record down and uses his finger as the record needle and then the SW main theme fires up.

It was so cool, I'll never forget it. Occasionally searched for it over the years online, but it appears to be lost to time.

My mother had this on 8-track in late 1977. We would listen to it in the car when we drove anywhere! I think of it as an introduction to audiobooks… I can still feel the story in my bones when I listen to it.

Listened to this all the time as a kid as we camped on a Long Island beach in a camper, my parents would play this for me at bed time. (No tvs in campers back then, just 8 tracks) Memories

I got all three "Story Ofs" when Return of the Jedi was out. The only way to experience the movie at home! Really nice that they used all the real audio, music and voices from the movies.

Proves just how popular this film was that it got a 8-track tape release.
