Failing Army Basic Training

I am a 39 year old Army and OIF veteran. I would love to go back in and do basic training again. Unfortunately, I now have too many medical problems to pass MEPS again. I miss the Army. Basic training is fun. The only way to fail basic training is to give up.

I went infantry back in 2017 and the drill sergeants didnt let me quit, i wanted to leave within the first 48 hours but im glad they chewed me out, smacked me up, and made my life a hell in there and forced me not to quit. For that i will always have a strong will to do anything i want in life

I never understood why someone would refuse to train. Basic training sucks, everyone wants to go home and wonders why the hell they joined the Army and refusing to train isn't going to get you out any faster. The Army just spent alot of money to get you to Basic training and they are going to do everything they can to get you to graduate, your unit is going to drag their feet on starting the paperwork to get you kicked out because they want to give you ample time to think about your decision and change your mind. I had some friends who RTT'd. I graduated went home on leave and was in processing at my first duty station before they finally got sent home.

In some instances this is true most the time you will be a non trainer. If your a non trainer they don't mix the trainers and non trainers. They don't wanna make shit bags.

I hated my company they’re actually going under investigation. Too many people got injured . Their way to discipline was bullying . I never felt like they cared or wanted to help. Unfortunately I quit because for one it was extremely cold and they wouldn’t even allow for us to use our cold weather gear meanwhile the sergeants wore theirs. They wanted us to get “used to it” . Half of the trainees ended up cold capping . That’s when I quit . I’m older too . There was an ex cop good shape and all ended up with a heart attack from how cold it was and he ended up getting kicked out for it . I hated my experience and ended up being a hold over for 2 extra months. When I told my sergeant I RTT she just shook her head didn’t even bother to try to talk me out of it . I had other sergeants from other companies try to help but it was too late .

It’s better to quit in basic if you’re gonna quit, why go to AIT or your unit and quit there and fuck up your record lmao
