I think it likely is actually AI generated, and "Variety" probably just a renaming of the "temperature" parameter that AI models use, which from my understanding increases the randomness of the outputs. So the idea is if you want the results to be more similar each time you click generate, you'd set it lower. But if you want literally more variety in how they look, you'd set it higher. I think with temperature/variety the thing is that if you max it out, it might potentially not follow your prompt very well, so probably best to experiment.

Excellent video. Thanks for helping me discover all the secret stuff that I'm already paying for.

Thats actually pretty cool. I often spend ages looking for suitable backdrops for composites, this would save me a lot of time ☺️

Thank you, Anthony! Very cool to say the least. Thanks for sharing.

6:27 it's not "creating 85" it's an AI algorithm and variety is similar parameter as Midjourney has, meaning how much randomness and experimental artifacts the algorithm is allowed to use. But the reason it takes so long, is because it's AI generated based on prompts. Works just like Midjourney and similar. Perhaps ethically trained, unlike most image generation AIs

This appears to be the first practical application of Firefly, Adobe's AI image generation tool (itself still in beta - I'm currently beta-testing it). Adobe has indicated that AI image generation will be added to various tools in Photoshop and Illustrator, and possibly other programs. II'm impressed; had no idea they were this close to releasing it into the real world!

Just what I was looking for. I have done a few headshot for a company and noticed the colours of my backdrops are inconsistent on their website (and every time I go back a few months later for another photoshoot). This is going to solve everything! Thank you for sharing 🙌

Thanks Anthony. Quick question. I usually send images to PS from Lightroom .. can this be done with Beta? Thanks.

Anthony, if you are in LR Classic, how do you open a photo into Photoshop Beta? Thanks

I believe Nikons Snapbridge app does this more seamlessly.

Thanks Anthony, good tutorial but I can't get it to work. I can get the different backdrops and some look pretty good. But when I click on any of them I get no checkmark, nor does it add it to the image. Then I noticed at the top of the filter window there is a warning icon and the message, "We've temporarily disabled this filter". The same thing happened to me a couple of weeks ago when I tried it and the same message was displayed. I have the latest version of the beta. It may be because I'm using windows and you're on a mac is why it works for you. I hope they get it fixed soon because I'd like to use it.

I followed your great tutorial but can’t get this to work on either my intel or M1 macs. The generated background shows in the layer thumbnail correctly but does not show in the image. Viewing that layer alone shows just transparency. Blend mode is set to normal for that layer. Any suggestions please?

Thanks for the video but I'm a bit confused. I just downloaded the Beta version and no Neural Filter under filters.

To deselect an background option, have you tried clicking the 'X" in the upper right corner?

Looks like they're starting to integrate some of their Firefly AI tech.

Tried this exactly as described and it doesn't work, goes through all the steps but no background image when completed.

Is there a way to use one of your own images?

I tried using this a bit tonight and found it unusable as is. I could find no way to scale the backdrop created to match the foreground object. For example, if I had a full body image of someone and asked for a brick wall, none of the walls generated matched the subject in terms of size, distance, perspective etc. and it stayed that way no matter how I tried phrasing the prompts. If the background generated can't be adjusted in any way to tweak parameters and just gives you a set fixed image, then I just don't see this as being usable.
