From the first week of ownership, the 2022 tundra has let me down. It needs some tweaks and changes to make it what was promised. This is truly the end for my tundra.

My 2022 tundra I bought in March was a pain in the arse compared to my 23 tundra I purchased in October. Big improvement in quality, but still some teething issues with my 23, such as my rear sliding window vibrating when rolling down and exterior window trim pieces on the back glass peeling. But compared to my 22 that had the connectivity issues with apple car play and screen resetting etc… none of that.
I agree with you that Toyota can and should improve the tundra and all their vehicles for that matter. I watched a video of Mike Sweers talking about a change in plastic standard that they made regarding unseen plastics that they would typically not install in vehicle’s due to blemishes or being out of spec but due to Covid and parts shortage they lowered the standard to use these parts because they were out of sight and still useable. I think that thinking and process has definitely impacted the quality. Anyways enjoy your 4Runner. I had a 2020 and that also had some teething issues and I tried ford and chevy in between my last two tundras and I’m back in a tundra so that should tell you something. I would take the minor issues I’ve had cosmetically over serious mechanical and electrical issues I had with the Chevy and ford.

Yep, I just bought a 24 4Runner TRD Pro. Last of its kind, bulletproof 1GR-FE and A750 transmission and made in Japan. My first brand new car ever and it’ll probably be my last

Glad to hear Toyota is taking care of you man. You sumed the truck up perfectly- fragile. Thats exactly how I feel about my 2022. I haven't had any major issues, just small fit and finish issues. I will probably end up selling it or trading it in. I've owned 3 brand new Toyotas. The 3rd gen Tundra has been my worst Toyota experience hands down.

First time viewer I can’t speak openly but your comments are spot on! I tested all Tundra’s back in late 2021 early 2022 did EPA certification as well as Darrell ability we knew that this truck had issues but thought Toyota would fix them, as time has passed nothing seems to be much better! Not what we assumed Toyota would do. I will say this post Covid all auto manufacturers are not as good as previous years I own a 2022 Tacoma 4x4 it’s the last of what Toyota used to be. I wouldn’t buy a new Tacoma to save my life!

I had a 2022 Tundra Platinum and trading in for a 2023 Tacoma - too many issues with my 22’ Tundra to list. Although my local dealer was outstanding and supported me as much as possible. Lost total confidence and sold the 22’ Tundra. Four months and zero issues with the 23’ Tacoma Limited.

I have a 23 iforce max limited . Issues with filling the gas, gas gauge works intermittently. I’m working on lemon law on my truck now . Can’t wait to get my money back. Wish I kept my 2019 tundra .

As an owner of a 2023 Toyota Tundra SR (base model) I am having issues with mine as well, all interior related, rattles and air vent whistles galore, I have inquiries with Toyota that have gone unanswered and feel like I am being passed by (Toyota Canada) I love the truck's ride, handling and overall style, but If am looking for something built to last, built to perform and built to live, I think I will go hyper old school and look at the 1980s Dodge Rams and Ford F150s 250s, they will outlast any Toyota IMO

Interesting. I bought a 22 Pro and took delivery of it in September of 22. I’ve taken it to SC to watch my son graduate from USMC Paris Island, round trip from RI was 1800 miles.

Drove back down to NC Camp LeJune for ceremony gradation from SOI. 1500 miles round trip.

I drive all over New England for work and thank God I haven’t had any issues related to the engine at all.

The one issue I have had was a leak in the moon roof. I noticed a musty smell in the cabin and found the rugs under the driver seat were wet. Not soaked but wet.

The smell got more intense. I took to dealer and they found that the drain tubes that are located in the roof, which actually drain down the side of the door panels and out below the truck, had come apart and leaked.

They replaced all the carpeting and did a full test for mold etc. they also replaced my shaky headliner as well.

That solved the issue. No issues since.

I did fall victim to the cracked seat issue and they replaced that recently. And finally I had to pay for two new tires of the 4 (Toyota paid for 2) at 28k miles due to the uneven wear.

Now we have the recall and Toyota will pay for the other two.

I ended up buying an extended warranty recently before my Pro hits 36k. Cost me $2k for additional 100k miles Platinum warranty just because I know if something does happen it’s gonna cost me double or triple that if out of warranty.

Noise wise I do agree with this reviewer. Occasionally I’ll hear things but they seem to go away and are mostly rattles related to that cheap plastic stuff he’s talking about.

But man does this truck move. Wow.

Only thing there is that if I’m driving 60-65MPH and need to accelerate quickly there’s a slight hesitation and then it kicks and goes.

Lastly when I did replace my tires with Falken WildPeaks my MPG dropped from 18.9 on average to 16.3 right now. I learned that even though I replaced them with the “same” tire it’s not exactly the same. The ones I received are heavier with a deeper tread and I believe that the OEM tires are designed for better fuel economy and ONLY available when you first purchase the vehicle.

100% agree!!! The Tundra has convinced me to look at other rigs. It's too bad as Toyota was the last reliable truck out there.

Glad to hear it. 2004 I had lots of issues with my Nissan and their answer from Nissan north America was "you bought it, you're stuck with it." Will never own another nissan.

This is why I made the choice to buy a brand new 2021 Tundra 3 years ago. They told me to wait and get the new one and boy I’m glad I didn’t. So far I’ve put 45k trouble free miles. And expect to get a lot more. The new trucks are definitely not build like the old ones they are definitely fragile and will most likely age very poorly from a mechanical standpoint and an interior standpoint. Everything post covid is a pile of crap and it’s almost every single model they have now with the exception of the 4Runner and they still haven’t fixed the limited 4Runner suspension problem they will always leak and cost about $5k to fix

Every day I’m more convinced to keep my 2006 Tundra, old school V8. 232, 000 miles.

Thanks for bringing it to light. Too many Toyota fan boys & girls living in the past out there need to wake up and be critical of the current products.

It's kinda sad to see an icon fall. I've owned 4 Tacomas, 1 Tundra and now I have a 2005 4Runner with a V8. Never had a bad one. It doesn't look like this is a one off reading the comments. Think I'll hang on to the one I got.

Glad this worked out for you in the end. Hopefully Toyota will get this truck up to Toyota quality in the next couple of years.

I think people keep pointing to design flaws, and for most of the truck id disagree. What I see are mainly QC issues. The V35A engines that come from japan for lexus didnt have these problems. The Lexus 10 Speed from japan also never had these problems. Hell, even the G16E GTS from japan doesnt have these problems and id say that engine is under way more stress. This is a problem with Toyota's US Manufacturing plant for the Tundra, its clearly been a long time since they have had to transition to a new vehicle, and im willing to bet its the first time for many employees there. Same problem i think will happen with the Tacoma. The only things i think are not QC issues is the seat panel and radio, clear design flaws that need updated parts/software update.

Eventually, i do think this truck will be reliable, once QC issues are resolved.

Much respect for your honesty. It's All manufacturers, they are just building expensive junk.

One reason I sprung for the 21 Tundra when I did. I was fearful of this with the redesign
