I think I’ll arrange for this to be played at my funeral. One of Glenda’s greatest performances.

Well Thatcher wouldn't have wanted to create an aspirational society because she seemed to hate the whole concept of society. In fact she created aspirational individuals without any care or compassion for anyone else.

Thank you Glenda, you've stuck to your principles. Good for you. Nil nisi bonum is not an absolute. It's far more important to tell it the way you saw and see it than to be seemly. We still have some notion of free speech, in Parliament above all!

Oh Glenda I love you. You just keep talking through the boos, unfazed. Most actors would crumble under a hostile audience.

Glenda Jackson vs Margaret Thatcher. A fantasy parlimentary fight to the finish.

Thatcher and the people she represented did not bite from that sandwich. It was the working class men and women who ate that sandwich.

She may be a "has-been” but what a has-been.
So your point is that, because she's old she has no right to have her say, or nothing useful to say. I wonder what useful comments some of the young things would be able to contribute.

That’s how it was at my school in the eighties. Weaker kids or poor kids weren’t allowed to be in the same classes as the middle class kids. My drama teacher actually said, “I want to teach attractive students”. And this was the Reagan years, Thatchers American counterpart. She’s exactly right.

Britain was going downhill fast and Thatcher saved it. Queen Elizabeth the first would have been on Thatcher's side.

They were more innocent then the British soldiers of their time for the simple fact that those Argentinians soldiers were conscripts forced by the state to enlist. I can sympathize with that because I was also forced to comply with my National Service, just lucky to not be sent to war. The two generations before mine couldn't say the same, though. Agree that the Argentinian dictatorship had no right to invade the Falklands, showing a catastrophic error in their reading of UK's likely reaction

Vile ghastly woman and a total failure as an MP who showed precious little care and compassion for her own constituents.

You are damned if you do and damned if you dont! Thankfully she actioned the difficult choices but is now damned by those who were left wanting. Life is just a Shit sandwich and we all have to take a bite, but its up to oneself how big a bite we take. RIP!
