Labour MP Glenda Jackson criticises Margaret Thatcher's policies during a special debate in the Commons in tribute to the former prime minister who died on Monday. Jackson, MP for Hampstead and Kilburn, says that under Thatcher greed and selfishness were seen as virtues.

That’s how it was at my school in the eighties. Weaker kids or poor kids weren’t allowed to be in the same classes as the middle class kids. My drama teacher actually said, “I want to teach attractive students”. And this was the Reagan years, Thatchers American counterpart. She’s exactly right.

They were more innocent then the British soldiers of their time for the simple fact that those Argentinians soldiers were conscripts forced by the state to enlist. I can sympathize with that because I was also forced to comply with my National Service, just lucky to not be sent to war. The two generations before mine couldn't say the same, though.
