It takes a while to properly prepare the Chimarrão cup, but it's not for just one drink, you'll refill it many times over, that's why there's so much 🧉 Mate and the "Cuia" (this cup) is small, and each refill consumes a bit from the bottom up, adding many layers of flavour, aroma and caffeinated freshness from the different amount of water absorbed from the bottom up. One Cuia can use one litre of boiling water after many refills.
It's very cold and sometimes it snows in the south of Brasil in the winter, people drink this a lot in the morning.
There's also the Tererê, which is the "cold Chimarrão", the preparation is similar, but with cold water instead.
