This is a series of videos on Geometry, with kids in mind (~ 9 or 10 years old). In this video we start with some basic definitions: point, plane, segment, line, ray, secant, parallel, circle, radius, and diameter. Click "show more" for links and more details.

Geometry Definitions:
* Geometry: the area of Mathematics that deals with shape, size, and proportions in plane and, more generally, in space. The word "Geometry" comes from Greek: geo=Earth, -metry=measurement, so Geometry literally means "measuring the Earth."
* Euclid of Alexandria was a mathematician sometimes known as the "father of Geometry" because he wrote a very important book, The Elements, that people learned geometry from for almost 2000 years.
* Point. A point in geometry is a location. It has no size i.e. no width, no length and no depth. A point is shown by a dot.
* Plane: the collection of all points
* Segment: the shortest path between two points (the endpoints) on the plane
* (straight) Line: extension of a segment infinitely in both directions
Ray: extension of a segment infinitely in only one direction
* Intersection (point): a point where two lines meet
* Secant lines: two lines that meet at a point on the plane
* Parallel lines: two lines that never meet at a point on the plane
* Circle: the set of all points at a fixed distance from a central point (the center).
