I'm trying to respect this point of view. But I can feel my eyes start to roll and a groan begin to form. The click track did not turn everything into marching music lol

Beating about the Bush by AC / DC is a great song for the back beat.

I can say that not everyone feels like it’s a bad thing. But being able to play on tempo with out it is amazing. I’ve made songs from it. Just don’t try to do anything on a tick after you have composed.

I was talking to Aaron Purdie (Drummer: James Brown and Al Green) and he didn't seem to care for click tracks. Teddy Riley said he never quantitizes for the same reason given here.

Interesting observation. As a young man, I've been finding the opinions of more experienced musicians or educated people who have appreciated music since before the advent of Ai very interesting. I want to make music that has soul and life, no matter the genre, and videos like these help me understand how to accomplish that goal.

You have an Ableton clicktrack-tool that follows the musician, now.

"It's got a back beat, you can't lose it
Any old time you use it
It's got to be rock and roll music
If you want to dance with me"
- The you know who, and if you don't, you should.

Angry marching music can be enjoyable though. Industrial comes to mind.

The oldies and goodies could and would make live performances sound right, even varying tempo's etc. Nowadays, using a click track live, it's about the only way you'll have a chance at enjoying a show. There are the "rare" bands out there, but not many and most have "been around awhile". Again Oldies but Goodies! ✌️🤟

Let's be honest it was synthesizers that start to create a grid to work to. With arpeggios, pulsing patterns

Millions have enjoyed 4/4 dance music for four decades now, there's energy behind that, but 'militancy'? No.

Having said that, I always appreciate the funk and the soul behind anything off beat, and I adore any genre break beat related. But views like this? A so-called musician, especially one so senior, should know better.

I would call it robotic. Everything has been computerized. I think it’s a beat that people with no rhythm can dance to, though. So it is the definition of disco.

You think clicks are new??? People have been throwing metronome tracks on forever.
