First playthrough was the best. Ran iron out of the swamp. Stockpiled at the dock and shipped home. Loaded onto a cart and wheeled stacks of iron to my base. Now, I can't be bothered and simply transport between different worlds. Oh, for the good old days.

Personally I find it more worth it to set up a small base with a smelter and a forge to simply smelt the iron as soon as I get it and craft it into weapons, particularly efficient if you put the small base close to multiple biomes so you don’t have to make multiple bases for all of the biomes. For example I made a base on the edge of the Black Forest next to a swamp with plains and a mountain right above the Black Forest so 4 in 1 😁👍
