2024 Honda Civic SI / The Perfect Recipe

After driving its rivals, I will say the Honda Civic SI is outclassed in several areas, but when it comes to well-rounded fun at an attainable price, it's the best. Today, I'll show you why that is and how it competes with the VW GTI, Jetta GLI, Hyundai Elantra N, Subaru WRX and more.

Thank you, Royal South Toyota, for letting me test drive this lightly used SI!

I’m shocked at how nice the Civic is now. It’s kind of everything a small car should be.

I’m 6’1 220 pounds and I love my 24 Si. It’s been an absolute blast and I don’t think I’ll ever get bored of it

I feel like the car is appropriate for the money. It’s a great alternative to a Type R if you’re on a budget and want a more sportier driving experience than the regular civics.

I think the power is adequate for what it is. I think Honda assume people buying this is going to be commuting but wanted a more fun commuting experience.

The other day my daughter and I test drove a bunch of cars including the accord then the civic back to back.
We both loved the civic over the accord.
I drive a 2023 lexus and I walked out impressed how well the civic was put together for its class.

Copped my SonicGreyPearl FE1 11th gen Si last yeat June, and it's been the best all-round enthusiast car I've ever owned and first brand new car and I'm glad i got this over say the Elantra N.

Extra points: got the canadian spec with full digital cluster, fog lights, front rear heates seats, heated steering wheel, wireless charging.

Below $40K, it's the most practical enthusiast car that has an LSD that makes carving those Ontario backroads pleasantly.

I had a ‘22. It was very nice and quite enjoyable. It was way underpowered, but its suspension was sharp. The shifter was butter, and the fuel economy was beyond impressive; I consistently got 37/38 mpg’s. I got a crazy offer from a dealer a year ago and decided to part ways with the Si. I’m now in a ‘13 wrx that I bought off my college buddy, who was the original owner and kept it all stock. I definitely miss the Si at times, and if my wrx dies someday, maybe I’ll buy an Si again.

Thank you, man, just for voicing what many people think in the first 2 mins.

Have the same exact color with blacked out emblems, and yes at MSRP and love it. Frankly, at city and highway speeds I couldn't even justify this powertrain as I have to restrain myself and not sure if extra power is more track suited than practical.

Love the reliability and safety sections of your videos! Also thanks for mentioning regular vs premium gasoline in this car. Very valuable info :)

I have a 24’ SI and love it. In my opinion, a great value and decent performance in a nice looking package. Great transmission too.

I traded in my ‘22 Civic SI for a ‘24 GLI 40th, only because I drove the piss out of the civic in my 1.5 years of ownership (40k+ miles) and took a remote job so wanted something fresh in the garage. While the Jetta has a descent bump in power, the civic trumps it just about everywhere else. Interior is of better quality, handles better, rev match is brilliant with a perfect shift every time, hill start assist is adaptive and releases brakes when clutch is engaged (Jetta is about a 2 second hold no matter the scenario - which coincidentally makes taking off on a steep hill about 10x more difficult) brake hold button (keeps the brakes held whenever you come to a stop - think drive thru or sitting in stop and go traffic. Once you come to a stop and put in neutral it will automatically hold until you take off again, without having to pull / release park brake over and over again), BOSE audio system is phenomenal & underrated in my opinion - by far the best quality sound system I’ve heard in a vehicle.. plus it looks awesome and averaged 33 MPG on WV country roads.

Some complaints -
rev hang is frustrating, especially when rowing through the gears
My ‘22 had the sticky steering at highway speeds but apparently that’s been addressed
Paint is soft as baby shit. Definitely suggest getting a paint protection film on front bumper / hood for rock chips
200HP engine leaves you wanting more

Nailed the review. This gen Si harkens back to the 90’s understated Si where only those who know, know.and unlike some of the competition the wearable parts are still reasonable. Whole point of the Si is it’s a civic with the fun turned up.

I still have my 9th gen civic(2015).. 120K miles after 9 years and no major repair on the engine or trans.. clutch is still factory and same as the day I got it…Will never sell it even if I upgrade next year lol

And you had to review it in the color that everybody has. LOL . I'm loving my SI and I've only had it for 4 months now. I just now started getting on it and I must say that it is quicker than my 09 GTI and with less displacement I'm impressed. And it's very comfortable

Id like to mention the feature set you get spending a little more on a mk8, heated seats, heated steering wheel, rear vents and a hatch. I cross shoped a si with the mk8 gti and ended up with the gti.

2017 si here. Gets much higher mpg than advertised. Easily hits over 50 mpg on highway. But that comes with injectors that will fail around 50k. Do it yourself for about $200. Also, if you ever get crazy dash errors like vsa, break assist, stability control, etc, could just be a bad maf/iat sensor.

I’m torn between the Elantra N and this. I had a veloster N and it was so quick and the interior was great. I know the resale on the SI will hold better, but the N for stock for stock seems to be way more fun factor

I have this car in the same color. Love the handling and gearbox. The Type-R has a ridiculous mark up in my area when I bought the Si in October 2023.
