honestly just being able to place energy turn one would fix a massive amount of issues.

I installed this game two days ago, and have now uninstalled it. It feels like if you go first, you lose. Going first is basically 50% of the game. And I started getting matches where if I was selected to go second, my opponent would immediately concede the match. That speaks volumes about the state of the game.

Misty might legit be the worst feeling card to play i've ever seen in a TCG. Either it does nothing or it instantly wins you the game most of the time. The fact you can attack turn 1 with it is so much worse as well. I've lost games before i've even had a turn by having my only active knocked out by a turn 1 misty high roll.

Idea to fix Turn 1:
Player 1 gets to attach an energy, but can't attack during the first turn.

Gives them a slight advantage in setting up bigger moves, but would make it so much more balanced

Unfortunately, I doubt we'd see a restriction of 1 ex per deck, as that would cause whales to not be inclined to fish for more of them. however, I think 1 ex in play at a time is a good compromise. It would make attacks like Persian's "discard a random card from the opponents hand on heads" all the more devastating if it trashes a ex.

EX cards work in the actual tcg game because you actually have to draw the energies. When you get a free energy every turn you're removing randomness. Getting 4 energies required actual deck building skill and super satisfying.

My solution is adding extra point. The game is already short as it is. It's near impossible to comback once misty give energy. The EX can kill your basic baby. The game need to slow down a little bit.

I've really been enjoying Koga, Weezing and Arbok. Doesn't suffer as hard with going first since Weezing only needs one energy. Really solid against Mewtwo.

I'm partial to the Level X mechanic from tcg where you would need to have a Stage two Pokemon, Charizard for example, which you would then place Charizard EX on top of, as a Level Up. Balances the deck by removing one card slot from their deck (higher chance of drawing card you can't use) AND most importantly by making it take just one turn longer for the sweep to be fully set up

they've balanced this before it's not rocket science gamefreak 😭

Adding more energy trainer cards would fix the "going first" issue.

Ex should not be a basic. It should have its own classification so you can't start with it.

I'd like to point out that the "competitive" tournaments people are already swarming all over are fucking joke... This game is so over the top with its reliance on RNG and how skewed that RNG is that while skill is not a negligible factor, it most assuredly isn't the most important factor in winning a match... can't have competition that actually means anything when the biggest contributer to winning is luck... sorry, not sorry for saying it 🤷

As a somewhat new player to card games again in recent years, but used to grind the shit out of Yu-Gi-Oh duel links when it was new many years ago, at first not knowing, I was basically facing the meta all the time, looked it up and then saw I was literally just getting the same 2-3 decks over and over again. it made me feel like back in the day when I finally got the king of games rank but in this, any online match now feels like it bc all players just use cheese decks to win.

i don't need to attack turn 1, but i would like to place an energy it would be such a big help

I love the fact that you not only identified the problem, but also provided SEVERAL solutions. Kudos to you my friend 🙏

Yes turn one is always in the disadvantage. Turn two can get free energy and can attack. Now you, the first turn, has left damaged and no energy. That's why turn one is always the worst.

The changes I think would be interesting and change the flow
- BE ABLE TO ENERGY TURN ONE IF BELOW POINT ISNT ADDED
- Actually have to draw energies.
- Only one EX on the field at a time
- EXs aren't allowed on last point.
And adding onto that last one, adding a new mode where there's more points, bigger decks and 5 bench.

I think there should be a mulligan of sorts where you're opponent draws an additional card per mulligan you have at the start of their first turn to punish players who just run 2 basic ex as the core of there deck which they can do since the game automatically starts your hand with a basic which is pretty broken considering the power of some basic ex pokemon. But honestly the going first situation in this game needs some kinda balance since if you go first you basically auto lose unless you get a successful misty or the opponent hard bricks.

watching this video after 7 battles lost in a row, 4 turn ones in a row, 10 TAILS IN A ROW, and holding back tears.
