One of the best trail bikes ever. Congrats. Great for technical trails.

Dope as hell. In the city, this is the fastest way to get around.

It's encouraging to see a guy who knows what its like to ride bikes I'd rather have excited to ride one I'd be more likely to own. That said I too have seen a few bikes in that price range but my reluctance is in the fact dedicated dirt bikes tend to need more maintenance than a dedicated dual sport. I'm sure you'll be covering this in upcoming videos about this bike but if you think you could go over the pros and cons of converting a dirt bike to street legal vs. getting a factory made dual sport that would be really helpful. Take care Hermit.

I had a 98, sold it a few years ago. Affordable, reliable, but a beast to get it to start. If you dont ride it weekly it will kick your ass to get it started. I sold mine because I didnt use it enough and ended up hating it because I could never get it kickstarted.

Great find and what a blast to ride, knowing it'll be hard to beat it up. Found a '98 DR350se last fall and it's also a great starter bike. Wish I had access to even your dirt roads for a change from the pavement.

Got lucky. My buddy sold me a 98 XR400R for $1100. He has owned it since 2002. And bonus, he already had it DOT approved and plated. Nice.

That thing is awesome. It might not be awesome on big hills, but everything else it will be super fun. Little bikes are a blast because they don't do anything you can't control.

Ive got a CRF450r and just bought an xr250r and i absolutely LOVE it! i rebuilt the carb, new tyres, chain and sprocket and its so much fun to ride - it just plows through everything. Im riding it more now than the CRF! Would love to see more vids!

Most under-rated dirt bike out there until you ride it uou don't know it capabilities if u ride it much you can keep up and pass most all out there very underrated...

Depends where u are. Texas wont register anything with an offroad title. EVER. after it's been titled offroad it can never touch the road again

The struggle of the first bike... save up money and go for something usable (highways), or go cheap and small.

to slow (trails are at least 40 miles away via highway)and small (im 6'5" and a big boy) for what I need but a good way for people to get into dual sporting

The weight difference alone is probably going to make it very enjoyable on the trails.
