Rick Beato needs no introduction. His YouTube channel on everything music is one of the most successful music channels out there. Here is our talk at GuitCon 2018.

Rick has an experience as a music producer of about 25 years and now he is full-time on YouTube.

He started his channel with ear training videos and now it has growth into numerous segments including song and solo analysis, music production classes, piano and guitar lessons and even music history content.

Rick gave us some awesome tips for guitar beginners. He advises starting with economy picking right away, work on simple things like good posture and hand position, and understand theory as a way of talking about music.

I appreciate the talk but it felt a little awkward... maybe Rick was reluctant to talk about his interest in history or whatever he has to do to keep his channel going. But there was this distance or cold pauses. I would have liked to see David jam with Rick and then a talk about the music they played. Something inspiring from two guitar players.

I was always wanting to categorize everything with theory, and was always very frustrated. One of my teachers said.. " with music theory you learn the rules... to be a musician you learn how to break those rules .
