When my dad (a legendary bassist) was teaching me fretless, I wanted to practice slides. But he kept telling me that fewer glissando makes them "special". I would practice them over and over after school before he came home. Then would practice intonation accuracy and exercise for an anti-buzz tightness that my little hands lacked. I always wanted more slides and the band director at school would say "no" and being in a cover band with my older brother is was also no. When I left home the JB fretless stayed with dad. I built one from a Silvertone in '77. It was years later that I realized he was right, effects, chords, solos, slides are ALL best in moderation. You reminded me of this with your solo on this video. Make the glis like the diamond among thousands of other rocks. The rest of the time play straight. I know YT is for athletic exhibitions of speed and goatness, but you probably have a smart enough audience to recognize/appreciate quality. My dad died in 2000, before 911. He wouldn't even recognize our world. But if he were here, he would certainly tell you: Make it sing with your soul, leave the gymnastics for the other guys.

As both a guitarist and double bass player this is so cool to me. This baritone, violin shape inspired fretless guitar is as if a double bass and guitar had a child.

As a cellist, this is now my favorite guitar

i knew a guy (sadly passed away from cancer aged 31) who never called himself a luthier though the guitars he made were simply stunning. He only made them for himself and all of them were fretless. Every single one sounded beautiful, almost etherial, just incredible guitars. He was an awesome musician too.
(All 52 guitars are now safely displayed & used by his family members and six God children)
RIP Davey.

Mad props to just how good your intonation is - that's not an easy task for most guitarists.

As a baritone player AND a fretless bassist, this is speaking to me.

The blues licks with the fuzz really did it for me. Man that thing sounds great.

I would quite literally sell every single piece of musical gear I own to be able to own that masterpiece of an instrument. Wow.

Poland seriously has the best luthiers around these days... Stradi, Mensinger, Mayones, Maruszczyk, and I might be forgetting a few... Beautiful instruments!

Wow, I think the lower register -- which not only has the pitches closer together in terms of absolute frequency difference, but is also more forgiving of minor pitchiness -- is really great paired with a fretless instrument! Definitely seems more accommodating to improvisation

1:22 reminded me of "Sisters" by Steve Vai. That's one rad instrument, dude \m/

I've been looking at fretless guitars for a while now, and though I can't afford any new gear I want one SO bad. And seeing this baritone makes me want one even more -- it's like making a guitar sing, a style of playing I want to experiment with and learn (being mainly a vocalist, this seems very fun).

I hope I can afford something similar someday soon, even if it's just a de-fretted, cheaper instrument, haha. Nice video! Love this!

I've always wanted a bass from Stradi, cool that this is an option now! Their work is ALWAYS impeccable, and they get some of the best fretless tones in the industry imo.

That 2nd jam sounded amazing. What a cool weapon to have in the instrument arsenal.

I didn't want 1:22 to end. That's the most ethereal and beautiful sound.

At 67 I was never sure before today. But now I believe in love at first sight. And sound.

It is my dream to play a stradi bass. They sound incredible. Thanks for sharing this guitar! Hands down the most beautiful guitar I’ve ever seen or heard.
