India has the capacity to let poor people live happily with contentment. That is the power of Indian philosophy and The Indian way of life.
No matter how much people try to twist it it is the bare truth.

1. Free govt hospitals.
2. Manditory free education till 10th
3. Buttload of Free give aways from govt like insurance for 10rs per year for 5L. Many many FREE FREE FREE thinhs in educational and other sectors.
India isn't poor.
Why:
A peraon can live with 15, 000 rs salary as well as 3L rs. Evwryone can ho out and eat, buy groceries and can afford medicines and compared to the doctors fee, health insurance, price or evwryday items especially groceries in west is appaling and im telling this after living in USA.
If a peraon is poor or middle class, India ia better. Its not even about money. People's mindset and bahviour is appreciable in india. You wont know unless you live in lala land in another country. Don't know how fortunate we are to be born in India.

"Extremely poor and extremely rich" is the hallmark of a poor country. Nigeria and other poor countries also have "extremely rich". But when the extremely rich is a tiny percentage, the middle class not big enough, and the poor are destitute, that's a poor country. If Elon Musk with his net worth of $500 billion went to live in a poor country they country would still be poor.

Yes it is a crime if children are not put into school. It's a fundamental right and also fundamental duty of citizen and a directive principle of state policy. Parents/Guardians can be penalized if their child are not in school. There are also provisions for agriculture migrants children where they take holidays for harvest and sowing season and return to school inbetween.
