The problem happened with those foreigners who come to India with too low budget then they start eating very cheap food from street side vendors which only very poor people eat. If they eat from decent place, food poisoning will never happen. India is cheap but foreigners should not travel too cheap. Their body can't handle it

If you expect cheap, nice and hygiene, then you should cook it yourself 😅 in your cheap Airbnb or motel. I think street food which is just cooked in front of you will not caused diarrhea unless there is too much 🌶️ or spices that you are not used to consume. Anyway, India is in my travel list. It is a great country with many great people.

The problem is to keep a very low budget and want a 5 star treatment.

As an Indian who eats street food nearly everyday, I've never got food poisoning ever in my life. It's all about choosing a decent enough place to eat and not every random corner shop.

You chose Delhi or Mumbai and say it is over crowded?

They are Himalayan regions, there are deserts, there are tropical rain forest, there are islands
But still you chose the cities and say is over crowded

Frankly, the bus incident, although unfortunate, is very very uncommon and can be easily avoided by spending about 500 bucks more to book a seat in a decent bus service.

My friend travelled 6 months through India and when he came back he had 5 years of weekly diarrhea. He went through a million medical exams and at the end they concluded that the food he ate there just messed up his microbiomic balance so hard, it took years to recover. He is fine now (its been 15 years)

My mom went to India and she told me lots! She said that for her that it was also overwhelming because swarms of people wanted money and there were kids on the ground sleeping.

To all the foreigners: please start with Indian fruits and home made vegetables or at a good restaurant, it’s not even that street food is dirty, which it sometimes is, our microbes are very different from yours, so you need to get your gut accustomed to it.
