Low pressure to bring heavy rain to parts of NZ

A large low is developing along western NZ over the next day or two before falling apart this weekend. Along with the departing high pressure zone this feeds in more rain to the lower south-eastern corner of the South Island - and into a number of other regions too.

As it falls apart this week it is replaced by westerlies and showers.

Hawkes Bay is getting so dry, it's going to make farm decisions very difficult around planting crops and stock policy. If it stays dry it will bite as many farmers are still lambing and need moisture desperately or won't have a lot of options as lambs are so small and sheep need the grass to make milk.

Noooo, not more rain and wind !!!. My poor 70+ Plum tree blew down in last windy weather and finally my section is drying out, after a wet winter here in Palmy Nth. I shall miss my Plum tree and my neighbors will miss it too, as it was prolific in fruit year after year. Sadly missed, but will replant.😢

If I ploughed a paddock now it would be dust by the end of next week. Cropping it too expensive to take a risk on anymore. We had and incredibly dry autumn must have been close to breaking records. Now a dry early spring, it either pours or goes away completely.
