I'm not worried about Carlos Alcaraz. He's 21 years old and won two majors this year, the French and Wimbledon. What Carlos has achieved is a Herculean feat. He's young, healthy, rich, with a good head on his shoulders, and has his whole career in front of him. The world is his oyster. The story last night wasn't about how Alcararz lost but how Botic van de Zandschulp won. We tennis fans forget about the daily grind, the striving for excellence, and the sacrifices tennis players make, and most will never win a major. The sweat. The tears. The struggles. Often penniless too. Botic van de Zandschulp, #74 in the world and bored with tennis, about to give up and retire. Botic van de Zandschulp is a tennis player the world doesn't care about but he's a complete person, beautiful and full. Whether or not this is his last hoorah or a shot of new found energy is anyone's guess but this was his night. This was his success. Botic van de Zandschulp can hold his head high. His hard work, talent, and sacrifice paid off and this match will undoubtedly be the highlight of his career. Sometimes success isn't measured in wins and trophies and ink spilt on a page. Sometimes success is heart. Congratulations to Botic van de Zandschulp, whose heart had no equal on the night of August 29th 2024. I bow.

Lot of commenters with recency bias. Carlos has kinda be doing this in the last few years. Wins big title - suffers a shock upset / injury / burnout (e.g. Rome 2023, off the top of my head) - takes it easy for a month or two - comes back and wins a smaller tournament in run up to next big one - then dominates next big one. It's happened at least 3 times in this cycle so far in his career. Don't overblow this, he dominated the whole Wimbledon field less than 2 months ago, and every top player has had a shock early round slam exit at least once in their prime. His ceiling is by farrr the highest of anyone else on the tour right now still

Djokovic like last year in Cincinnati, took Carlos' soul again. It seems that everytime he is experiencing a loss against Djokovic it has a lasting effect.

I think Botic played in Carlos' style and that's what bothered him most. If you're good and someone's a mirror image of you, then it can be difficult to come up with a plan to execute on the spot. Botic had few unforced errors and was going the extra mile to hit the difficult shots that others would have given up on and that can be unnerving.

Van de Zandscalp with the biggest scalp of his career... Damn, I love a Humble Sportsman...I'm not saying Botic was not genuinely Humble but Depression does have a way of Grounding & Humbling some people. I'm a Nole fan but i wont mind if Botic goes on to win the tournament, after overcoming depression. Botic inspired many with this performance! May he continue with such performances! ❤❤❤

It’s part of the learning process… He already has an amazing season under his belt and when he’s even more developed in 3-4 years time, it’s gonna be ruthless

He’s just overwhelmed with what he wants to achieve. He thinks he’s at the level to pull of record breaking seasons but he’s not at that level yet and as a result he’s putting immense pressure on himself and he’s imploding at the moment

Botic just outplayed him, this is what happened.

Media made him with Raducanu, Gauff, Put pressure on young players will never bring positive

the answer is simple. Alcaraz was broken by Djokovic and he is not the first one to whom he has done this

After looking almost Invincible for the last 2 years, it is now clear that Novak Djokovic took Carlos Soul in that Olympic Final...and he still hasn't got it back... This just shows that Tennis is also a big mental game coz mentally Carlos is still gone after that Olympic Final loss...and his opponents can now smell that he is now human after all.... And this is All Thanks to the 37 Year Old G.O.A.T King Nole👑... But let's give credit to the humble Botic for playing the match of his life so far🙌
