The Carlos Sainz story is not over, but it's certainly evolved past himself and even Charles Leclerc feels it.

Carlos Sainz's "revenge arc" at Williams may have paused, but it's far from over. After a stellar preseason, Sainz unexpectedly struggled, falling behind his teammate Alex Albon and raising questions about what happened. Is it sabotage, favoritism, or something else entirely? Williams team principal James Vowles clears the air, emphasizing transparency and fairness, putting Sainz's struggles down to adapting to the car rather than deeper technical issues. Meanwhile, Alex Albon is thriving under the new team dynamic, confidently stepping into a leadership role, showcasing impressive consistencyand highlighting Williams’ promising rise.

As Ferrari and McLaren grapple with internal tensions, Williams is strategically building a harmonious future, bringing in talented young drivers like Victor Martins and Franco Colapinto. Could Sainz's departure from Ferrari be more impactful than initially thought, especially considering Charles Leclerc's current struggles alongside Lewis Hamilton? With Williams emerging as one of the most stable teams in F1 right now, is the stage set for Sainz’s resurgence? This is the behind-the-scenes look at why Carlos Sainz’s revenge story isn't finished yetit's just getting interesting.

Vowles has my respect. I like the way he runs a team.

He said to not expect great results this season, he needs to adapt to the car, the power unit and also find his ideal setup, just give him some more time and we will see him getting better on the williams.

I don't really care if Carlos is ahead or behind Albon. I want both drivers to just be close in terms of pace to help bring Williams to racing at the front again where they deserve to be.

4:40 As a Spaniard, I love what JV is doing, he's probably the best team principal we could've asked for Carlos. His insight and his trust on Carlos gives me lots of hope for the near future

Although I would have loved to see Sainz come out strong at the start, witnessing Albon thrive fills me with joy. What an admirable team pairing! I am a devoted Alonso fan, but Team Williams has truly captured my heart.💙💚

I think it’s wonderful to see this confidence in Albon. He seems much more passionate.

The ground effect era Ferraris definitely altered Sainz's muscle memory when it comes to driving a F1 car. At the start of 2022 Sainz struggled alot and in order to close that gap to Leclerc he definitely had to alter the way he drove so after 3 years it is very easy to believe why he is stuggling in the williams so much at the start of 2025.

"Data is his equivalent of pillow talk. He will talk data at you *all the time*".... Yup, this is James in a nutshell, and why he's probably the only person on the entire grid that I'd listen to all day long if I could. He could read me a damned phone book and I'd go into an ADHD-fixation trance listening to him.

I'm not a mathematician or engineer or anything - nothing like that. I just really appreciate how his mind works. He's so passionate about all of it!

Okay, it's also his tone and inflection when he speaks, so it's not just his brain. I might have a little crush. 😅

Watching Alex and Carlos discuss Carlos making the pit call in Melbourne on Team Torque was great fun.

Instead of talking the talk, Alex is walking the walk. On the track where it really matters! Cheers to him!

I think Carlos is having a great time in Williams. They are open to feedback and suggestions, very little politics, very open conversations. I think this is a very positive working environment

Carlos fan here. I remember he started slowly in 2022. It can take him some time to adjust, and he will.
He also got very little testing on qualifying tyres, and qualifying has been super important this year. Anyone who thinks Willams isn't playing this straight is just not understanding the situation. Their transparency is the reason Carlos picked them.

Finally someone is talking about this… he is just off but in such a silent way, I see no one calling him out that he is beaten by Albon and it feels wierd

Carlos was within hundredths of Albon in Japan quali and his best sectors would've beaten Albon and gotten him into Q3. Obviously that's all hypothetical and its not taking any credit away from Albon whose performances have been excellent.
JV himself said that Sainz has some driver habits he picked up from Ferrari which take time to unlearn and adapt.
I'm not too worried for Carlos the car will slowly come to him, and when fully settled into a team he was a good competitor to Leclerc.
This is Carlos' 5th team in F1, so he knows how to adapt.
I'm sure in the long run he'll turn out to be 1-2 tenths quicker.
There's really no need to worry.

Sainz inherently made me a Williams fan. And Alex welcoming the competition has made me an Albon fan. This is a very exciting project to root for and both drivers are making me happy.
