When I heard "you always have so much food in here", it made me think "we always have so many handbags in the store, but that still doesn't make it okay for someone to walk in and steal!"

I use to be a hairdresser and a coworker stole my scissors and then quit! Unfortunately I couldn't prove it but they were $400! As a single mom it was a huge expense for myself to replace. That was almost 25 years ago and it still burns a bit thinking about it.

A while back, I worked at a lab. My husband worked the 3rd shift and I worked during the day (same Department). I had a little cooler that was pink and had flowers on it. I often left it behind with snacks and drinks for him (since most places are closed overnight to grab a bite). He would bring the cooler back home and I would take it in the morning for my lunch. One day, I decided to take my cooler home after my shift, and the next day, I find that another cooler (exactly) like mine on the kitchen counter. He took a cooler from work, but it was not mine 😆. I felt horrible, because it had snacks and somebody’s else lunch. I found out, there was a new co-worker that was hired and had the same exact cooler. I apologized for the mistake and we both laughed about the incident. My co-worker had every right to be upset, but she was very understanding about the situation.

Yes, someone stole my husband’s dinner at his work once. We love spices and I didn’t use much spices on that meal that day. After that, we laced our food with it, as we have a high tolerance for pepper, with the hopes that it gets taken again and the person suffers.

I have a happy story!

My colleagues and I leave snacks on our work tables and we noticed our food items started going missing. It got so rampant that two of us bought a thumb drive camera and put the "bait" out.

We caught the culprit (another colleague) and showed the footage to our bosses. We later found out the culprit suffered from kleptomania. She really just needed to care more for her mental health.

She went for counselling, she apologised to each of us in private and bought us food items to "repay" us. She said, "I have no idea what I have taken from you but please accept this as a gesture of apology."

She was in tears the whole time.

Guess what! Our friendship with her has grown. It's been about five years now, and nothing has gone missing since. (Yes, we still leave the snacks on the desks!)

I would never want to use a coffee mug from a coworker. You never know how clean people actually keep things, or even their own personal hygiene lol. I find it odd that she wanted the coffee mug lol

I guess even in luxury botiques, etiquette is still rare.

I always get my “cheerleader” voice. Like omg you found it. I’ve been looking for it. Hugs. Happy dance and bouncy happy hug. I’m totally passive aggressive

Omg I have a good one. - I am an insurance broker with a huge corp. my office had about 80 employees. When I was 7 months pregnant with my second boy, Someone had the nerve to steal my hummus and crackers. And get this, IT WAS A CRAVING SNACK. So here I go with all of me and my belly to the kitchen and I can’t find my bag in tue fridge. I said ok maybe it was moved ( we had 3 fridges). I then realized someone took it. So me and the receptionist (my girl) go on a hunt! I was soooo mad, hungry and PREGNANT. Not a good combo!
I took my pregnant butt around the office and looked in every single trash can for the cracker wrapper! and sure enough. The Karen with the BMW took my food. So I confronted her in her cubicle and I made sure people heard what I had to say… same thing, she said “oh I didn’t know this was yours”. And I lost it
I said sooo the bag with ZAB’s Don’t touch note wasn’t a hint for you?! I said “ I am trying to feed my baby healthy snacks and it is very mean to take it! And I started crying 😣😂 (again, 7 months pregnant). And walked away. Well she was then known for stealing a pregnant woman’s snacks AND making her cry.
She left the company 2 months later. 🥺😂

I had a very cute mug at work, left it at the rack to dry after washing it and it went missing after that. We were sharing office space with another company, so i suspected someone from there stole my mug. Few weeks later, i caught sight of my mug in the sink. I STOLE IT RIGHT BACK! lol. i'm childish like that.

Im a flight attendant and I have walked into the galley and watched passengers opening my lunch bag and eating my lunch, or they go through my bags that are stowed behind the last row of seats. If you know you didn't bring the item, you know it's not yours, no excuse! I have caught them red handed and they are usually a little sheepish like "oh I didn't know". I will generally say "That is my lunch, from in my lunchbox, I brought that from home".

Corporate life is filled with passive aggressive workers and folks who think micro-aggressions are par the course :( This has happened so many times and is so normative here that the victims are blamed for not securing their possessions well enough. When folks go on vacation, they clear out their desks like they left the job.

When I first started my teaching job, I didn’t have a personal fridge. I left my sodas and lunch in the teacher lounge.
And I was shocked when someone stole my entire lunch and drinks! I ended up buying a personal fridge.

That gose on more then you think lol . while I was working at a nursing home, I'm a nurse and we all had a locker with a lock on it so I never worried about my stuff in there But I would always bring my food in a red insulated nylon lunchbox And put it in the bottom of the fridge in the lunch room break room, I got sick of someone going into it and taking out my bottled water or my diet soda my actual lunch and my snacks . So I went and got a large insulated cooler put all my stuff in it load it up with small bags of ice and kept it in my car . AT lunch i would just walk out to my car and eat lunch . Some of the other nurse started doing it as well . we did a test the head nurse put a small camera in the lunch room and we found out who was doing it, not just one person but several, they would take something different out of someone's lunch . So she called a meeting and told everyone that she considered it theft . Also she left the camera in the lunch room . She had to get permission from the office and they said yes lol.

Theres's a saying that I heard growing up: "If someone will lie, then they will steal. If they will steal, then they will kill. "

I had an old neighbor who was married btw, who started messing with my roommate at the time. She would legit ask him to steal certain clothes from me and when me and my ex broke up (roomate was cousins with my ex) and i left the house, she started wearing all of the stolen clothes. My ex called her out and said something to her about wearing my shirt. I never got the shirt back, but she stole all of the time apparently. Also, i just want to add, the coworker who brought up race in the conference room is a hypocrite. It's funny how those comments only swing one way, yet if it swung the other way someone would lose their job.

So I also write my name on my stuff at work. I'm a CNA and we have a small kitchen area on each floor that before covid the residents used. There is a sign on the door now that says staff only. Well one day I was going to get my diet Pepsi and I see a resident walking down the hall with it in his hand. I stop him and politely tell him it's mine. Then I was too worried to drink outta it. So later the same resident tries to pick fights with me over little things. I know he's got dementia so I try to just defuse the situation but he tried to go to my unit manager because I wouldn't clean dried poop off the floor. He's totally independent and talks to the housekeepers all the time but insisted I was the one that had to clean it. Finally I got the housekeeper to mop his floor but all this over a soda that had my name on it 3 times.
