302 Mustang GT45 Turbo Swap - Intro

This is the intro video to the next build series here on BP Builds, which is turbo swapping the 1995 Ford Mustang GT 5.0L 302 5 Speed. This year (2025) marks this car's 30th birthday. Tuning options for these vehicles are limited, so we opted to remove the entire factory Wiring harness and ECU. We then install our own custom built Standalone harness and Speeduino ECU. See the 5 part build series already released on this channel documenting the build and test of this ECU. It has successfully ran both 302 and 4.6L Ford V8 engines. If you are interested in DIY Fuel injection, or trying to install a computer controlled fuel injection system on your vehicle (of any kind) these videos should be of some help.

This car was purchased in late 2020. It was sitting outside next to a barn for about 7 years. We spent some time cleaning up the car, doing maintenance, fixing some issues and getting it to run reliably naturally aspirated before attempting the Turbo Swap. At the time of filming this video, the car is completely turbo swapped and can run and drive. However we are waiting for spring 2025 to complete the tuning process.

Nice build. Work on the idle tuning methods; pay attention to the BRA (base running/idle airflow) and timing.

Various "mild stage 1" cams can take some work to iron out the hunting idle. Idle rpms may also need to be bumped up more or less, depending on cam duration and overlap.
