What Happened To The Mummy Returns?

For over a decade, a reboot of the classic Universal Monsters property The Mummy languished in development hell. The project was originally intended to be a dark, low budget horror story. Then executives decided it should be a larger budgeted adventure film. So in 1999, writer/director Stephen Sommers delivered a version of The Mummy that was packed with action, adventure, humor... and some creepy mummy stuff. It was a massive box office success – so, of course, a sequel was put on the fast track to production. And now we’re going to look back more than twenty years to find out What Happened to The Mummy Returns.

I Remember Ordering And Watching The Mummy Returns On Pay-per-View Back November '01 But That Cgi Human Scorpion Hybrid Pissed Me Off. The Tv Spots And Trailers To The Mummy Returns Is Outstanding.

One day mummy returns came on TV and my girlfriend and i were watching it.
She had never seen it.
I told her the movie is awesome except there is this one thing that fuck it up, but i didnt tell her what it was.
When CGI rock appeared she was like "WTF???" and was laughing and cussing and was just flabergasted.

Whenever i think of this movie, I think of that more than i think of the actual movie.

Both movies are great. Eve's hidden backstory was highly relevant. As per Ardeth bay Eve was a princess in her past life and O Connell is a Medjai who is supposed to protect her. Hence the frequent callbacks to the first movie were of utmost importance. Scorpion king's Cgi was not good but that doesn't make it a bad movie.

I maintain that if at the end battle that when the Scorpion King appeared at the end of the movie, he had looked basically like he did at the beginning of the movie, only supernaturally stronger/not a CGI effect and Rick and Imhotep had to team up to fight him like Riggs and Murtaugh against Jet Li in Lethal Weapon 4....it would be a much more well regarded sequel. It's still pretty good though..

I like this one a tad bit more than the first only because Rick is now a father and husband and Evelyn is no only a wife and mother but kicks major patootie! I liked the family dynamic. I dont see much of that in modern movies nor television.
