I didn't realize this happened to him too. Another example was during the filming of "Back to the Future Part III" when Michael J. Fox almost died while hanging from a rope. They thought he was joking around at first, but it wasn't much longer before they realized he wasn't.

The craziest part about this scene, Brendan Fraser (Rick O’Connell) was actually choking from the rope and the crew didn’t realize it. He ended up passing out and woke up on the ground. He literally almost died. There’s a few interviews he mentions this on. If I’m not mistaken, this scene is that exact incident. Brendan said the director told him it didn’t look like he was REALLY choking, could he do more to sell it. So Brendan said, “okay, one more take”, and then the incident happens.

For anyone that hasn’t choked themselves its like you completely lose awareness that your being choked and you cant process sounds or visuals going on around you not even your own movement and everything gets dark than your out of it and confused.
