In my head, Ben, suspecting nothing, went for a drive in his Clio and it just fell apart cartoon style because of all the bits Will's been stealing

Not to throw shade at the other channels in the unit near you, but my word easily the best chanel for UK car culture, naturally funny, great content, great cars and fantastic personalities, keep it up guys

I’m a Renault/Dacia mechanic, and Renault are still doing those same not replaceable fuse (and on the rare occasions that they blow, we replace the fuse in a similar manner)

Turn the engine on when bleeding to open the ABS valves. Longest line first (back right) then front left, rear left and front right. Ideally do it using CLIP to cycle the ABS valves, although shouldn’t need that if the fluid hasn’t been fully removed.

Flashing EML will be the injector. I actually have a video on that. Bit crap but the resistance test will sort it.

Thats bloody good induction noise! As it has different camshafts you would do well to pay surrey rolling road a visit and have a fiddle with the timing (after fresh oem/cleaned injectors and new spark plugs obvs)

My last experience with Renault electrickery was my 1.2 Mk3 - for months it would rev hunt like crazy at idle. I put it down to the alternator I fitted being the higher amperage model from the turbo version and kept on driving - eventually I parked it up when I bought my 350Z and a couple of years later I had to let it go. Turns out some gremlins had taken up residency and weren't keen on being evicted - car would rev out to the redline and pin itself there as soon as you turned the key. Couldn't really be sparks since there wasn't a misfire - which only left the throttle body or the injectors. New throttle body stopped it pinging off the limiter, but it refused to idle properly - revs were too high and it would "stick" and hold. Whole new set of injectors later and it was happy again - just to rub salt into the wound, the rev hunting disappeared along with the old injectors just in time for it to move on. Had to laugh - it's still going strong with the new owner

When you rebuilt the engine did you get the injectors refurbished? Send them off to someone that can clean them, balance them and change the seals etc. Doesnt cost alot and gives good peace of mind that that bit at least is correct.

Wish we had the american junk/scrap yard system ( or more of them ) Spending a couple of hours with some hand tools and a few quid getting parts and bits n bobs from cars is great fun. This fuse is prime example. Scrapy, Clio, cut, fix.

I'd love to see a old school, nova, 5 turbo, or ax gt beautifully repaired by your fair hands lol. But money no object, a mk1 escort is my motor. Channel is on point, keep up the the great work. All the best lads.

Love the fact you show the issues like the wiring over the gearbox mount etc. very relatable. Great channel guys

All I can say is at least you didn't have to get Edwin to replace a rear right brake caliper. I hear he is something of an expert.

I'm a massive fan of these older Renaults, especially the Clio and even more it's taller brother, the mighty Modus. Currently owning a Grand Modus 1.2 (with turbo!), which I will keep forever. It is proof that the legendary "Italian tune-up" really works. It was owned by an elderly man before me, who drove it very little and probably never any fast, so it was a bit slugish when I bought it. After some month of more spirited driving, it is now very responsive and goes like stink. Never fails to put a big smile on my face. However, I can not help but wonder what a Modus 182 would have been like, had Renault actually made one... which brings me to my tip: please transplant all the sporty bits from a crashed Clio 182 into a Modus! That must be epic fun!

Whatever it takes to get this thing working again is worth it. They are magnificent cars and having previously owned a lightly tuned R32 GTR, the 182 is a far more fun car to drive down a B road

Thanks boys, watching your video in the morning with a coffee before I head to the shed and finish the timing job on my evo.
Also need to fix the dodgy turbo coolant hose job that the previous guy did (I am the previous guy)

5:40 - that's gonna cause a fire for sure.
If the wire isn't crimped properly, it will be creating a lot of heat inside the lug terminal.

I once had the fun of trying to find the hardware for a Whiteline rear ARB too. I thought it would be a very generic piece of hardware but no. I couldn't find a match at all. I ended up contacting Whiteline directly and turns out they will just sell the hardware kit despite it not being listed on their website at the time. I suspect they either have some very obscure supplier or they are having them manufactured to their specs.

Never heard of French cars with electrical issues, you must have a unique car there which makes it priceless…. 😂

Great video on a car that you saw everywhere and time has mostly forgotten. Still looks a great wee hatch, shame they don't build cars this size anymore.
