PEOPLE WALKING ON LAVA 🚷

Many tourists keep walking on lava. Lava has not been coming here for more than a month. I guess its safe but still no one knows whats under and the surface might be fragile.

The holes in the lave that you captured in your drone video shows that there could be many lava tubes on that cooled lava flow. These are a hazard because they are hidden from sight. The cooled lava above a tube may not be very thick and may not support the weight of an adult. There are concealed dangers here.

until some tourist has their legs melt off, people will keep walking on it. Probably even after. The attraction of walking on material that has risen from so deep within the earth and is so fresh is too much of a draw for people to pass up.

Especially walking in clusters on such a fragile surface! Assuming the lava would no longer burn, it's still like walking on ice that may or may not be sturdy enough to support that much vertical weight. Ah, well....it's their life and bodies.

Even if the lava is cooled; the lava can produce very sharp shards that can cut through skin very easily and cause severe injuries. Is it really worth it? No. Stay safe, stay off the lava. Period.

Your advice is good - dint wander around on the "cold" lava. Remember the sudden collapse and submerging of lava crust a few weeks ago! That you caught on video! Those lava tubes and lakes are hidden

Clearly left their brains at home... Even if it has been cooling for weeks, they're setting an awful example for others who could decide to try it at an even less safe part of the flow.

It's not about the concern of the lava or even over a month old surface. It's about the hazardous gases around that area is thicker than other area....
