You can see where the water in front of the boat was moving before it even touched it and the waves get smaller as it pulls up. Totally in reverse

I used to live in northeast Wisconsin. There is a Shipyard along the Menomonee River up stream from the mouth of the Bay of Green Bay. That's part of Lake Michigan ( one of the mightiest of the Great Lakes.
Marinette Marine is its name. They would launch their ships sideways. People would line up on the Upper Peninsula side of the river on launch day and get swamped from the huge wave that was created from the ships being launched. It was always quite an event.
