Opening in theaters June 15th

Directed by: Christopher Dillon Quinn
Starring: Natalie Portman

How much do you know about the food that’s on your plate? Based on the bestselling book by Jonathan Safran Foer and narrated by co-producer Natalie Portman, Eating Animals is an urgent, eye-opening look at the environmental, economic, and public health consequences of factory farming. Tracing the history of food production in the United States, the film charts how farming has gone from local and sustainable to a corporate Frankenstein monster that offers cheap eggs, meat, and dairy at a steep cost: the exploitation of animals; the risky use of antibiotics and hormones; and the pollution of our air, soil, and water. Spotlighting farmers who have pushed backed against industrial agriculture with more humane practices, Eating Animals offers attainable, commonsense solutions to a growing crisis while making the case that ethical farming is not only an animal rights issue but one that affects every aspect of our lives.

This documentary would need to be available free of charge for everyone. If not, only people invested in the cause will see it.

One night in 2016 I was staying at a friend's place with my girlfriend and I couldn't sleep. Saw the book on a book shelf and read it through the night. Have been vegetarian since.

I wish there was a way to write thank you letters to these whistleblowers without invading their privacy or opening them up to hate mail. They and their families have been though so much. Nothing compared to what the animals they've watched over have, but at least they used their voices for them rather than stay silent.
Of course supporting foundations linked to them and going vegan is the simple answer but they deserve personal gratitude for their sacrifices.
Vegans aren't perfect. That's why we need documentaries like this to remind us what's important.
I'm thankful for this documentary.

There is no humane way to kill a sentient being that wants to live.

Currently on Hulu. This is NOT a vegetarian/vegan film. It touches briefly on it and a few interviews should have one thinking about it. This is a good STARTER for someone to move in that direction.

I watched this documentary and cried for almost 4 hours still so upset I know all this but the pain of watching it again is buried so deep I don’t know 🤷‍♀️ what to do with these feelings, I don’t want to judge anyone and how they live their life that is totally up to them, but it still hurts to see these poor innocent creatures in such pain just for our own greedy purposes! May Great Spirit show us all the path to save ourselves ❤️🙏🏼🥰

I just watched this doc and my heart hurts!! Where has our empathy and humanity gone. I will never again, in my life, eat animals or animal by products. Ever!!!

Looks very similar to Food, Inc. - which changed my life when it came out 10 years ago, and what inspired me to become a vegetarian. Go see it. Like this movie, it will open your eyes to how devastating our industrial food system has become. Ignorance is not bliss. This is so important.

I'm glad this is playing at a local theater, I fell of the wagon and need something visual to get me back on track since that's what motivated me the first time...

I have been filming independant farmers and ranchers. Their values and what they choose to include in the growth of their animals matters too. In fact, they begin what these factors finish most of the time. Farmers too, have to be accountable. It's all about accountability. Lets not hope for change, lets make change.

That last statement from the "traditional" turkey farmer is eerily ironic, "I'm fighting to keep something alive."
