A gas station owner invited us out to explore a massive cave in their backyard. We had no idea how huge it would turn out to be.

this is the type of caving that looks fun, not crawling into 5 inch tall crevices with no way back

Thanks for the opportunity to go caving with you from my chair in the comfort of my home. At 70 that is as close as i plan to get to caving. Spelunking. I have been in Mammoth cave twice and a couple of times in wild caves.

That bit at the beginning where you fellas felt light headed was probably gases. Gases in caves like those are odourless and can cause those type of feelings that’s why it’s important to carry a device that checks Co2 levels and others gases. Stay safe fellas nice video 🤙🏽

Thanks for posting this guys. I caved there in my youth several times over 30 years ago. I went in through Garbage Pit which at the time was owned by a couple that let the local NSS chapter camp on their land. They even had bunk house for cavers. It was great. I went into that entrance while it was still accessible, also the MH entrance and of course where ya'll went in was called the PO entrance. The cool thing is back then you didn't need to rope in, you could just hand climb down. Me and my partner went in there and never could fin our way into the main cave from the PO Entrance. Looks like it's changed a bit. We went in thru Garbage Pit but couldn't get passed the Lake Rooms as unlike you guys we didn't want to swim so I never got to see "The Big Room" so seeing it on HD video was awesome! Did you guys know that cave system was once the 25th largest in the United States?

Not in a lifetime would I ever go down there. Glad you guys found it. I was also relieved the entrance wasn’t full of trash. Maybe there’s still hope for humanity.

Sloans Valley. NSS has 3D maps of this system. 27 miles long maybe more now. You guys were almost to a much bigger "lake". I went in during a severe drought about 30 years ago. My 2ft. Maglight wasnt bright enough to shine across at waters edge. The ceiling of the room is almost 150 ft. high. 3-4 mile long corridor with a million boulders big as dump trucks. At waters edge, 80 feet above you to your right there's a 5foot hole with a heavy chain hanging out. Never found where that passage went. It took over 24 hours to get to where I was. There's so many great things about that cave system. Its world class quality and should be treated with the utmost respect. Same applies to the landowner. They're kind people. There has never been any gas leaks. This system is almost pristine considering the traffic over the years. Two more entrances ( or more). * Always leave a rope dangling at this entrance hole for exiting. Watch weather forecast before going in and obey utmost safety rules. This cave is every bit potentially deadly as she is beautiful. Long, slow rain could easily trap people for days due to three unique tight entrance drops. Cave was closed last I checked due White Nose Syndrome even though I never saw a single bat here ever. White crawldads, salamanders, fish, and crickets big as a dinnerplate deserve to preserve. Fragile habitat with potential to extreme violence. Nice video thank you guys.

This is probably one of the BEST videos I've come across. Thank you for taking us along on your adventure.

I would love to explore caves, but I've seen The Descent. So, y'all go on ahead and have fun! Nope! Nope! Nope!

Gentleman, I work on merchant ships and we go into enclosed spaces that are huge. We use gas meters but also bring an EEBD Emergency Exit Breathing Device. You might consider packing an EEBD. It will give you 15 to 20 minutes to get out of a cave with contaminated air. They are light weight and small, easy to pack around.

The idea of getting lost down in those caves is a true fear for me. I'ma happy you all can remember your way back out.
