I watch all your matches, and your pattern is so incredibly consistent: you pick an opponent that is meaningfully higher in UTR, you play competitively but get beaten down for the first 4ish games, then your opponent makes what seem to be uncharacteristic mistakes (double faulting, shanked overheads, etc.) and you play more aggressively and you win a game or three, then they finish you off. In the interview, they usually lament their mistakes (which I'd guess are largely due to the pressure of playing for the camera), and they get Solinco gear that most seems ho-hum about. It's a glorious thing, and I can't get enough! ;)

Sydney is unbelievable for a sophomore in high school. Her well struck balls have so much pace and depth from both wings! She absolutely pounds the ball. I have practiced with D2 Women's players for years, Sydney's best stroke are already at the D1 level. She is also good at point construction from the baseline. She seems to have a good understanding of the game and a mature temperament to boot. Her primary limitation was many unforced errors into the net. If she gains better control of trajectory and adds more shape to her driving ground strokes her errors will drop and her opponents will feel like they getting pummeled in an ally! She is a talent. Hope you got her autograph, we may be paying for tickets to watch her play in the future.

That backhand is crazy. All of her shots are so well placed and paced. She could definitely be a great pro one day.

she has good strokes both sides. always leaning forward and hitting thru the ball....good balance of power baseline shots, touch and net play...Well rounded player...

Sydney's serve isn't the strongest but DAMN those groundstrokes are powerful especially that backhand 😱 Must be so challenging trying to rally with her and can understand why the score was so lopsided this time. Nice effort as always Winston!

I love that Sydney started to work on serve and volley once she realized she was going to win.

Great content. Sydney is amazing. I play a Sophomore here in Wisconsin that won individual state and she is relentless too. I feel your pain.

Wow that Sydney has a wicked backhand… there was one cross court backhand that was so good and powerful - I watched it several times in slow motion - just to see how she does it - I still dont know!. Thanks for this content Winston - super cool you take on top players - most would be too scared!! Haha thanks!

The weaponry from Sydney is exceptional. She's gonna be a beast when she steps into college tennis.

After watching one set I see that Sydney has very strong forehand crosscourt. She shows reluctance to hit up the line, even when it's required and would win the point. Sydney's return of serve is good and her first serve is fine but she needs to remember to reach up and over on her second serve. Instead, she frequently drops her head on the 2nd serve and hits into the net. Sydney would raise her level significantly if she worked on her approach to the net as well as punching more on her volleys. Sidney's overhead worked really well through the match. Lastly, Sydney skimps a bit on her fine step foot work. Work in this area will improve her balance and help her direct her shots more reliably. All the critiques aside, Sidney played consistently over all and was more than up to the task of winning against Winston. I hope to watch some of her matches next year and see which areas of her game she and her coach(es) decide to work on most.

Winston, I totally understand your opinion about Sydney's backhand being her strongest ground stroke. She really leans into it and wails on it, and hit several great winners against you during your match. Her forehand is really strong, too. I look forward to seeing which university she chooses to attend and play for! Good luck, Sydney!

I’m actually very impressed with Sydney. A talented kid. She served well she returned well, she moved well. My only comment would be that she made quite a number of unforced errors. What I would observe about your play Winston is that you just weren’t going big enough on the serves, you were making a lot of unforced errors. I found you weren’t really attacking her second serves or trying to pressure her first serves either. The reason she was able to beat you so handily was because you were just getting worked around the court, you’re simply not serving fast enough, and you just need a bit of work on the mental side of things in your match play. There were definitely a few instances where you could’ve broken her serve, and you had the chance to come back in the match and perhaps even be able to take the lead. But a player like Sydney is not going to show any mercy, especially when she smells fear. The better players can just sense when you’re vulnerable and are not feeling it in a match. I have seen some improvements in your play Winston. But you still have a long way to go if you wanna be able to compete with somebody who’s as good as Sydney.

The fist pump by Winston when he got his first game, well it didn't quite translate into more games but still was funny! She is quick, has excellent footwork, wallops the backhand, and can hit into precise areas to put the opponent under pressure. The noise overhead could have affected them both! And perhaps could explain some of the poor serving, etc. I could see the serve & volley tactic working for her - when she did it, she changed the rhythm to her favor again. But against another opponent we never know, but maybe she'll try it. I thought the backhand was a big shot for her. For many of us, it is other people who tell us what they see we are good at - if anything! ha ha

Great stuff again Winston! I was really impressed with Sydney's game. That backhand is a beast! Great work keeping playing higher rated opponents, it can't always be easy. Seems like your game has come on loads in the last couple of years. It's a fun sport to try and improve at. Felix from Tennis Bros next??
