In this video, Dr Peter Coleman, who is Board-certified in Addiction Medicine and in long-term recovery himself, shares lessons learned about the risks of getting off of buprenorphine.

-Safe, Comfortable Outpatient Detox
The Coleman Institute for Addiction Medicine has been a leading outpatient addiction treatment center since 1998. Our innovative withdrawal management programs, often referred to as The Coleman Method, have helped thousands of people free themselves from addiction to Alcohol, Opioids, and Benzodiazepines. Originally founded in Richmond, Virginia, our network has expanded to cover 14 cities across the US.
-3 - 8 Day Opioid Detoxification Process
For short-acting opiates like oxycodone, most patients complete their detox and begin Naltrexone therapy within 5 days. Longer-acting opiates like Suboxone and Methadone typically take 8 days. Our standard opioid treatment package in Richmond, VA, Willoughby, OH (Cleveland area) and Wellesley, MA (Boston area) includes the detox and 6 months of case management and Naltrexone therapy. As a non-addictive opioid blocker, Naltrexone dramatically reduces cravings so that patients can focus on their recovery. We have a 98% success rate for completing detoxification and starting Naltrexone therapy. During the detox, we work with patients and their families to develop an appropriate aftercare plan. We also offer a convenient, 3-day outpatient alcohol detox and a Rapid Benzodiazepine Detox.
-Caring, Empathetic Environment
Dr. Peter Coleman understands first-hand the challenges our patients are facing due to his own personal struggle with the disease of addiction. He has been in long term recovery since 1984. Dr. Coleman has dedicated his career to treating addiction patients and creating a team and an environment conducive to long term recovery for his patients.

I have been on it for 14 years. I have been tapering for over 8 months now and I am down to .25 once day and feel better than I have ever. It is an absolute must to get off this medication and taper correctly and safely and have a plan and stick to it. It is difficult but it is very much possible.

I was on 16mg for 12 years. Today is my 2 year anniversary of kicking this medication to the curb, cold turkey.

the hardest part for me getting off suboxone was just living life on lifes terms.

I want a doctor put me in a medically induced coma so I can just sleep off the withdrawals.

the absolute HARDEST thing after I’ve come off which was 7 months ago is the sleep. I have not gotten a good night sleep since I stopped. It’s pretty crazy, but I get about 3-5 hours of completely broken sleep every night. It’s a nightmare.

I want off this stuff soooo bad. I'm just done. I don't wanna get high and I don't wanna be chained to a prescription drug . Wish I would have went cold turkey. Cuz if you're really done with the dope sceen then that's your best path. 👌 stay safe out there

This guy puts out some of the best layman terms of showing how it's done.

ive been on suboxone roughly 4 years now...i had a probation violation 2 years ago and did about 8 months locked up and was free....stupidly enough when i got out i got back on it like an IDIOT!!! now im off probation and parole but i want to get off of this medication very badly...have been for a couple of months now.the thing is i own my own home and have bills.i have absolutely zero support and im just terrified at this point....but all i know is the medication was great for me the first 6 months to a year and since then, its just slowly making me feel more and more like total CRAP each and every day.im starting to get more and more side effects such as headaches, insomnia, anxiety, back pain, abdomen pain....i could go on and on.ive gotten off of it 3 or 4 times in the past but never after taking it this long.i just quit my job because i was working at a factory that was 12 hour shifts and you got fired for being one minute late and because of the way that im feeling waking up at 4;30 a.m. each day with a migraine and 2 or 3 hours of sleep not to mention the constipation wich also makes me need to pee every half hour...i just couldnt do it anymore.i have saved up enough money to get by for 2 possibly 3 months but i need to get off this medication asap and im scared to be perfectly honest.but i know i dont need to start another good job while im chaned to these STUPID pills anymore.i know this is a long shot and a 2 year old video but does anyone have any suggestions for me? i know i have to do this because its making my life miserable and i truly think its slowly killing me.thanks!

What is the benefit of taking Suboxone or Oxycodone? It seems that you are just taking one medication for another. I just don’t get it

Seems like useful info but the microphone frequently cutting out is unfortunate and some of the message is lost

I don’t really mind being on a low dose suboxone for a while tbh. Cuz almost everyone is on some sort of medication weather it’s anti depressant or benzodiazepine or some sort of medication for mood and stuff. I don’t take any other medications for the most part . Just low dose subs. So I mean I just see it as being on a medication just like a lot of people are.

I know people stuggling to get off Subs, would be good if this was in the UK for them

Why if you only take little pieces daily? I’m talking one sub last you 6 7 days
