Sunlu FilaDryer S2 BottomFeed Mod

3D Printing and dry Filament - if you own a Sunlu FilaDryer S2, this Video may be for you! I will introduce you to my "Bottom Feed Mod", which will turn your Sunlu S2 to a Filament Dryer with both top and bottom exit for your filament.

A filament dryer will keep your filament dry or recover it from too much moisture. 3D Printing works even better when the Filament is fed directly from the Filament dryer to the 3D Printer. In a lot of occasions, it makes sense to feed from top of the printer - requiring a bottom exit on your filament dryer.

If you want to print the spacer for the "Bottom Feed Mod", find the stl files here:

If you are interested in the desiccant boxes, check out:

I will upload another video about my Top Feed Mod for the Snapmaker 2.0 soon. This includes two new 3D Designs, which form a bridge over the A350 Housing.

Got 4 of them now, one for each printer I have. Mounting is a bit medieval, just drilled 4 holes in the top plate and secured it with a screw in each foot. 💪 No problem to mount on my Delta printers but figuring out how to mount one on the X-MAX is another problem.Perhaps just stand the dryer an feed the filament through a bowden tube. Thanks for the inspiration!

I originally printed the "Sunlu S2 reverse bowden adaptor" mod on Printables but this seems like a much more elegant way. Thanks for showing

Set this up on to of my FLSUN Super Racer. Vastly improved the feed over the stock set up.

Great info, thanks a lot! I recently acquired the same dryer and had the same frustration because the bowden tube for my Prusa MINI+ expects the filament to enter from near the bottom of the machine. My temporary solution was to add an arm to my printer to point the bowden tube upwards, but this created two sharp turns in my filament path that isn't ideal. My other ideas were to mount the dryer on the wall outside of my enclosure and at a lower level than my table OR attempt to modify the dryer to feed out of the bottom like you've done. I think I'll try this and see if it helps.

Part of me regrets not paying attention to the filament exit points when I bought this dryer, because I probably would have looked for something else that has a bottom feed by default, but I'll make it work somehow =)

Nice work! I just got the S2 black version. Does your white version have the hole up top of the lid opened up?

Two quick questions for you, please:
1. How did you cut the hole in the lower metal heating plate while it was still connected to the wires?
2. Were you curious to find a way to take out the display? I'm asking because I'd be very very curious to find out what the controller is, I have a hunch it might just be an ESP, which would open wide hacking options :) But I can't see how I could take the display out without damaging it

Hello, I understand correctly that this dryer is not suitable for nylon? I am looking for a dryer that can cover all my needs ...
