You also need Science but yes, the bat is the 2nd best melee weapon with the rocket modification.

Electric rocked 2079 slugger with power armor that knocks enemies down and a follower with another electric sledge hammer is a really fun build lmao, basically we’re just taking turns stunning shit as we beat it to death

I made an entire playthrough with this as my main weapon fully decked out and with blitz, and if you wanna spice things up some drugs, you can one shot everything and I mean everything that bat carried me from concord too the glowing sea and beyond, you one shot everything except patrolbots deathclaws and queens, but pop a fury a psychojet psychobuff and bufftats, all very cheap chems( you get enough for your entire playthrough if you do the diamond city chem deal quest) and you one shot them too.

Totally agree. Rockville Slugger and Power Armor is the fastest way to become truly powerful right at the start. Even when using other builds, it's useful to start with this setup, just to collect the gear you actually want.

I did a melee build once and accidentally killed a mutant hound I had at one of my settlements in far harbor and I felt so bad I will never do melee again 😔

Keep in mind, Yao guai roast gives like 300% extra melee damage instead of the listed 30 afaik if the new patch fixed it or not (im guessing not cause bethesda)

I’ve never done a melee build but the 2076 World Series Slugger once got me pretty damn close. Still probably my favorite (actual) unique effect in the game. Wish there were more of them.
