Don't be afraid to scream anything, nurses and doctors have heard everything, and even if it doesn't help the pain it can make you feel a little bit better.

And don’t forget to pack adult diapers. They are key coming from a mom that’s at three.

I have a huge needle phobia and was convinced I was not going to get an epidural. I was having horrible back labor and my labor and delivery nurse looked at me and said “the epidural will give you the chance to rest and actually enjoy your labor. I’ll be with you the whole time you get it done.” I am so thankful I did it.

My parents had 4 kids and my parents told me recently that it was my dads specific job to follow me and my siblings after we had been born to make sure that they got back the same baby lol

7) ask for a local social worker’s phone number and be on the watch for signs of postpartum depression. It can set in at any moment and when that happens, you NEED someone to talk to ❤️

"The baby will come out eventually, one way or another"

Low-key sounded threatening 💀💀💀

100% take snacks, you're going to be ravenous after giving birth (if it all goes smoothly) and you'll be thankful you bought them if they can't get any food for you at that time.

First baby they had to break my water. The second broke on its own and what NO ONE told me was every time I had a contraction I would leak more fluid. The first time I got all cleaned up for it to happen 6 minutes later.

You don’t have to lay down! You can deliver on your knees or possibly at an angle, this will allow gravity to help.

They did all of the routine checkups in my room. It was nice. I never lost sight of my baby

“Once the baby is born, you still need to deliver…its house.”
Sorry but how he said this, made me chuckle (also, alternate way of thinking about it tbh). 😄

I don’t have kids but I work in the delivery room. my advice is: every labour is different but every mom on the Internet thinks that her experience is universal. Don’t be scared by the comments!

I was a super young mom and the nurse after my delivery was incredibly unkind to me. My daughter needed a scan and she told me I wasn't allowed to come with her. She was so rude. Said why would you care? When the other nurse found me bawling without my baby she was so mad at that woman! She chewed her out, sent her home and told her don't be surprised if you aren't coming back.

Don’t forget the biggest tip.
Be wary of “mommy groups” that really judge every aspect of parenting you do, ridicule decisions and derail any good experience with a negative story of a rare occurrence as if it were the norm.

I was told to push like I was pooping and it was the greatest advice I was ever given. Push for 45 minutes with my first child

Snacks. Important for everything. Whether its birthing a human or crying in your room. They're crucial.

When I was ready to push I told the nurse and she didn't believe me. I reached down and felt wasn't mine. She believed me right away. All through pushing, placenta and all she kept asking "are you feeling okay" apparently I should have been in more pain.

I was ready for my epidural, but the anesthesiologist on duty was “tied up with a difficult c section delivery of premature twins”, by the time he was free, it was too late for me. It’s been 30 years, I still remember the nurse telling me

my mom didn’t bring food to the hospital her first time, but the nurse gave her their emergency backup lunch. she says it was the best dry turkey sandwich she’s ever had
