I think one of the biggest problems with an Apple is that phrase you used; IT'S NOT UPGRADEABLE!

10 core cpu has the highest single core clock speeds. 10 core cpu + 16gb gpu = perfect machine.

Its perfect for editing but could also game in case there is some free time :) love it

This looks beautiful and 5K must be awesome: but if you are doing a lot of Photoshop image editing isn't it better to have a non-reflective screen surface that doesn't interfere with your work?

Get compatible RAM from OWC (you may gave to wait a few weeks more) and save a ton more!

Your setup is exactly like mine. Couldn't justify price of the 10 core to the performance gain.

Price aside, the main thing I can see going against this is A.) It's non-upgradable (nothing new there though, that's been Apple's schtick for a while), and B.) when something goes wrong, that whole computer has to go in for service or be replaced. And if the current stock of Apple desktops is any indication, servicing is going to be a bitch. There's a price you pay for something sleek and thin. It ain't gonna be easy to work on and you're gonna pay through the nose to have it fixed. I hope it lasts you for years though. My main rig is an old '09 27" iMac (got it for free before it went to recycling) and it's quite good for what I'm doing (nothing major like what you're into, just gaming, surfing, coding, and some occasional music production). But if anything goes wrong with it, or I want to swap some parts, I can get quite a bit more life out of it. The Apple products today are basically very expensive disposable electronics. When they break, throw 'em on the pile and buy a new one. And that's a damn shame when you consider what Apple's philosophy was up until maybe 15 years ago. Yeah, they were still expensive, but you could still upgrade and mod the hell out of them if you wanted. I've got a ][ and a ][e that are still kicking and a couple of SE's that still work. Find me ANY modern computer that will still be running 30 some years from now and still be fun and somewhat useful to use. I think my oldest PC that is still somewhat capable of daily tasks is an old Dell Latitude CPi running Win2k. Got an old NEC Versa from the 95 era that still runs and some old iBooks, and PPC Macs from the late '90's that can still browse the web, code in Python (2.3), and play some older games.
Tell ya what, in ten years time, if your iMac Pro is still running, throw it up on Ebay for $100 and I'll buy it from ya. ;)

You need more cores to get better performance "for video editing".. Not talking about the iMac for sure with its heat.
nice video, nice tips.

Why would your client by your Mac for you, can you explain please?

iMac Pro gets a screen cloth, the MacBook Pro doesn't. You're more likely to get marks on the screen on a MacBook than a iMac.

I don't know how you can like these mouse and keyboard. It's a poor design specially the mouse that bring pains and inaccuracy when I use it and I replaced that keyboard quickly with a good mechanical one. They are a good example of form over function.

In the end the screen is nice but there are many nice screen on the market now and the thermal limitation are really bad on this hardware designs. My MacBook pro 2017 is a joke when it's time to do editing because of thermal throttling, quite a deception that laptop.

As much as I like osx, the apple hardware doesn't cut it for me with those slow video cards and poorly cooled cpu. We had the previous version of this imac and it was quickly replaced by a fast windows tower. It doesn't look as good but the tower is hidden and it leave space for nice giant dual 4k displays. With the budget of the imac pro you can build a serious setup.
