DSMC2 RED Monstro 8K vs RED Weapon Dragon 6K(A basic comparison). I've used the Monstro for the last 5 months and the Weapon Dragon 6K for about three years. These are my brief thoughts comparing the two, since I don't see much content online about this topic. Thanks for watching! :)

Which DSMC2 sensor is your favorite? Let me know in the comments?

Love my Monstro 🫶 I added the Skin Tone OLPF Vista Vision and it not only makes skin tones look incredible it makes everything look even more like a high budget cinema production. Small price for huge benefit. Better than V-Raptor in my opinion. There’s a great comparison on YT of Helium 8k with Skin Tone OLPF vs V-Raptor (DSMC 3 doesn’t support OLPF) and side by side the difference is obvious.

You mentioned that you have been experiencing some reliability issues. Could you tell us more about that?
How reliable are your DSMC2 cameras and what sort of issues have you been experiencing? Also, how have you been able to resolve the issues that you have faced with these cameras?

You got me thinking that a used Monstro, might be a better upgrade than V-Raptor. I'm upgrading from Varicam, with Komodo as my b-cam. And have to admit I'm hooked on the R3D codec. Seems like Monstro and Raptor have very similar images, but I understand that VV-Raptor has better signal to noise ratio that Monstro.

Either way, I'm hooked on large format photography and love the look of your shots at the end. Thanks for sharing your opinions!

Have you thought about getting the Kippertie ND-Mount?

How long can you run your monstro on one battery? Ours seems to only run for 45ish minutes on one thicc boi battery.

I want to get the Red Scarlet W DSMC2 but people are saying I should not invest in an old sensor and should just get a used Komodo. What do you suggest. There is a Red Scarlet W package for sale for $4000, includes everything you need to shoot.

Interesting that cranking the ISO, but also using an ND filter will expose for both indoor and outdoors at the same time.

I thought you were going to say that you used a mask in Davinci after the fact to get exposure correct.

I didn't know it was possible (without using HDR video) to do that.

I swear all these footage videos are always horrible compared to what they can do when cinematographers get there hands on them. I could recreate this footage with a Black magic 4k
