I truly understand nostalgia but some of the old relics on youtube need to let go of these screen complaints. Its going on 2023. The analog experience left 20 years ago. Most people dont have the money to buy a Porsche so making it the benchmark for everything is useless.

I commented the same rant on another M2 video. I sit at a desk in front of two screens all day. Why would I want to get into my high performance sports car with a similar setup?! As a F80 owner I feel it is the sweet spot between an analog and digital interior. Also the fact the new idrive8 incorporates the climate controls into the screen. The one thing I hate about our Volvo XC90.

I’m probably gonna fold soon and get this new m2, just looks better and better everyday. The screen is not such a bad thing imo.

My dream specs: metallic black, auto, sunroof, m sport seats, m performance spoiler and m performance exhaust. Not looking to track but want comfort and looks!

I agree, with your point about the screens. I immediately felt some sort of disconnect with the interior and I didn't know why and you made me realize it was because of how put of place the screen is. It has an after thought look

With the new M2, my thoughts.
1. Front end, not bad, just the bottom of the bumper should had been color matched. Looks like a 90s JDM with a big front bumper that broke after hitting a bump on the road.
2. Rear bumper lines are hideous. Needs an LCI redesign sooner rather than later.
3. I’m with you Tommy, on that flat screen. Not a fan of it, but is not a deal breaker for me. (Rear bumper is).

I agree with everything you said except IDrive8. It is not anywhere as near as bad as you make it out to be. It is clear and customizable depending on what information you'd like to have on the display. It allows you to change it to your liking and has more capabilities. It is a step forward. Also the kick stand in the back is a bit disapointing from the sideview but when in the drivers seating position it appears as if the screen is floating infront of you and cleans up the interiors design. IDrive 8 has been getting a lot of unfair hate by many who haven't even given the system a chance.

131, 121 miles on the e46. I also don't like the long screen with the small support tripod. No innovation on design and the tripod makes it seem like someone can break the screen. Also they kept the gas tank capacity the same as F87. Still loving my M2 Comp.

The f87 m2 comp weighed a little more than a f80 but you didn’t feel the weight and it felt more nimble i guess cause of the short wheel base. I’m assuming this new m2 will have the same feedback as the previous gen.

Interesting perspective ... I agree with most, but I'm not sure about the head on and rear styling yet. Side profile and hips and 99% of interior is great, and I agree about some of the F8x bumpers being overstyled, but I think the vents are still too square. I thought the boxy look was awesome UNTIL ~2000's, where even the E46 M3 has more rounded openings. I'm sure it'll look good slammed on some wheels though 👍

great video....I'm completely on the fence with this order. That digital screen, I agree, is the worst part - zero aesthetic integration. It also looks a bit high and looks to be in line of sight to the road. I need to see and sit in one to pull trigger.

I'm considering buying this new M2 to replace my 2005 manual IS300. The IS has analog gauges, no buttons on the steering wheel and simple to operate buttons for stereo and climate. I am sure I will will miss all of that. Maybe car makers will eventually reverse the trend toward these screens and go back to things you can operate without removing your eyes from the road.

The screen looks pretty awkward but maybe I could tolerate it if there was a retro (ie round) digital gauge option. The trapezoidal dials BMW is going with are hideous.

The new M sport seats are the same ones used in the X3M should be good enough as well. If you're not an ideal body shape I'm sure the carbon buckets won't work.

I don't love the new M2 but its better than I thought, the leaks so bad that now in red is not terrible but no way the front looks better than the F87 :)

That idrive8 is ridiculous to put into an M car. In an electric car maybe yes, but not the M2, M3 or M4. It's a shame!
